Yoga 900 screen resolution battery life

Hello,

Has anyone reduced their screen resolution to 1920x1080 or similar and noticed a significant improvement in battery life? I have tried to find an answer online for whether or not this will do anything for battery life on laptops and so far I haven't found a definitive answer.

Re: Yoga 900 screen resolution battery life

Hi tuhin,

Greetings.

I think it would be hard to get a measured evaluation of battery life with lower resolution setting since difference most likely is unremarkable and depends on usage to be definitive for entire battery life duration (1-2 years).

LCD pixels would still be illuminated no matter what detailed rendering is used. What may affect most are heavy graphics that can decrease power draw on GPU/CPU that may lessen in lower resolution. This is actually still unremarkable as compared to decreasing the brightness to 80% and more on 50% that will sure help.

Heat is still one of the major contributors to decrease battery life. Proper battery maintenance would still be the best to prolong the life of a consumable part.

Hope this help answer your query.

Regards
