Yoga 900 trackpad delay

Hello,

Is there a way to reduce the delay between the last keystroke and when the trackpad registers an input? It currently takes about 2 or 3 seconds for my clicks and swipes to register and it slows things down quite a lot. I was not able to find any settings to alter this, so any help would be appreciated.

This has been an issue since I bought my laptop and it's a minor but significant nuisance.

Re: Yoga 900 trackpad delay

Hi there, Tuhin            -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

You can also start by flushing out all static, remove AC adaptor and hold down power button for about 15 seconds.

Also try updating the touchpad drivers

Update us how it goes.

Re: Yoga 900 trackpad delay

I should clarify the delay I experience is when transitioning from the keyboard to the trackpad. I don't have this issue after that initial delay and there is no delay at all when using only the trackpad.

As for the drivers, I keep them all updated and made sure the trackpad one was updated before posting here.

Re: Yoga 900 trackpad delay

Do you have a touchpad delay option as described in the link below?

Re: Yoga 900 trackpad delay

The issue still persists. I tried the link above, but I don't have an option for touchpad delays under my settings. Seems a bit odd, but I've looked and haven't found any settings for touchpad delays.

Re: Yoga 900 trackpad delay

Click "Additional mouse options" which takes you to the classic Mouse control panel from older Windows versions.

Go into the Device Settings tab (with a Synaptics logo), and click Settings.

Under Advanced > SmartSense, fiddle with the Palm Check Threshold slider and see if the issue gets better.

Re: Yoga 900 trackpad delay

I don't have the SmartSense tab, but I reduced Palm Check all the way down and that seems to have fixed it. I'm curious why I don't have that tab. Mouse Properties shows my version number as 19.0.17.57. I believe that's the latest one. Is that what you have too?

Re: Yoga 900 trackpad delay

I'm also curious to know, why does Palm Check have an effect on the delay?

Re: Yoga 900 trackpad delay

The delay is intentional to prevent an accidental touchpad action while typing. More delay = less chance of accidental action.

Yours is probably fine; I think my Synaptics control panel is a bit buggy; I have two Advanced tabs...
