Re: Yoga 900s , screen flickers after sleep

It's a little perplexing that this version 20.19.15.4463 of the "Intel (R) HD Graphics 520" driver on the Lenovo site is well over a year old, when on Intel's site, there's a days old version, with a very much lower version number: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/88355/Intel-HD-Graphics-520

Version: 15.46.02.64.4729 (Latest) Date: 7/11/2017

Edited bit: That version from the Intel site actually installs and shows as version 22.20.16.4729, but a few minutes after rebooting and installing, my screen went blank, and device manager showed I had reverted back to an even older driver, 20.19.15.4326 from November 2015. I haven't had a flicker since... yet.

Re: Yoga 900s , screen flickers after sleep

I'have  the same Problems here.

Shown in this Video.

After  Each Update from Windows. I Pray it would disapear. After a while.

I Installed from Intel the Driver Advicer. It says, there is a newer Graphic Driver, but I can't installed it, because I have a special driver by my Producer.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LbuRKmE1jtY

The Driver above is one year Old, is it possible that we get a new one if the Crators Update Fall is rolled out?

Screen flicker is not funny and it distuped my Work.

Thanks

Falk

Re: Yoga 900s , screen flickers after sleep

I managed to fix this issue.

Ive changed the vga adaptor to a new cable - usb c to display port. No issues at all! Maybe the adaptors are doing some issues.. edit: i see in your video that the diaplay of the pc itself flickers. Thats is other problem. I had a flicker screen when used external screen only.

Re: Yoga 900s , screen flickers after sleep

Just updating, with an observation I've made today, after updating to the newest available drivers on the Lenovo site, version 20.19.15.4463.

I've still had the screen do its flashing on and off thing at times.   What I have noticed though, is that it will still happen if I'm typing, or just looking at the screen, but the smallest movement of either the touchpad or a USB mouse is enough to stop the flashing and keep it from happening until after I take my finger away to start typing again. It's obviously not a hardware issue if continuous circular motion of a finger on the touchpad will stop it happening.

I've also noticed that at the time it starts flashing, it's usually preceded by the internal fan coming on a few seconds earlier, but not always.

Does anyone else see these same behaviours?

By the way, I have no clue what causes it, and it seems Lenovo has about the same level of understanding, but it seems worse today with the 20.19.15.4463 drivers that it did yesterday with the 2015 ones, whatever version they were.

Re: Yoga 900s , screen flickers after slee

I know this thread is over two years old but I also have a Yoga 900. You have to understand what the driving capacity of Intel HD graphics is in the first place. I have the Yoga 900131SK2 which had the i7 chip along with Intel HD 540 graphics. I bought a J5 Create USB-C to HDMI cable and had all kinds of flickering on the screen until I went nearly mad.

This is where you have to research you graphics chip. It's simply being overloaded. I was trying to push 4K (3840 x 2160) through the cable at 60Hz to my LG 27UK600-W: 27 inch 4K UHD IPS Monitor. You would think Windows 10 is smart enough to figure out the limitations of the graphics chip, but it's not. You can clearly see on the Intel site ( https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/91163/intel-core-i7-6560u-processor-4m-cache-up... ) that the graphics processor on the Yoga can only push 4K resolution through any kind of HDMI port at 24Hz, AT BEST.

Max Resolution (HDMI 1.4)‡ --> 4096x2304@24Hz

Max Resolution (DP)‡ --> 4096x2304@60Hz

Max Resolution (eDP - Integrated Flat Panel)‡ --> 4096x2304@60Hz

So now you see the issue. I've been in like ten forums and all kinds of experts are saying to "update drivers and BIOS", which is the go-to response without thinking.

What will likely solve my issue getting a DisplayPort to USB-C cable. I have that coming in the mail. But for the time being, I went into "Display" settings in Windows 10 and clicked on "Advanced Settings" for my second external monitor and then "Display Adaptor Properties for Display 2" and chose 3840x2160 (4K Resolution) at 24Hz. Now my monitor is not flickering anymore.

I anticipate that my DisplayPort to USB C cable will allow 3840x2160 @60Hz

I hope this helps somebody. I went through hell trying to get this simple information.
