Yoga 910 Bios 2JCN27WW bricked my laptop

I tried this BIOS and it bricked my computer. I have tried  everything, pressing the power button for 45 seconds and then pressing it again to power on the pc, removing the battery and I also tried the novo button but nothing works. The only thing that happens when I power on the pc is that the backlight on the keyboard lights up for two seconds and then nothing. The power led stays on and so does the charging led when the charger is connected.

I called Lenovo support and they told me to send them the computer for repair. It's only a month old. It's the 16Gb, 1 Tb glass lid model. This happened yesterday, 2017/03/24

The morning after this happened, 2017/03/25, I now have control over the keyboard backlight and if I put in a usb stick the little led on the usb stick flashes, I'm hopeful that it might indicate that the motherboard is not tried.

Any help with this issue is greatly appreciated.

Re: Yoga 910 Bios 2JCN27WW bricked my laptop

Hello Omarmhanna

Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.

That is the problem with the BIOS updates, it can easily mess things up.

As the unit is not responsive, I would recommend that you go ahead with the repair offered by the support team.

Let us know how you get on.

Re: Yoga 910 Bios 2JCN27WW bricked my laptop

I havent backed up anything on the otebook, it's not even two months old. If i open it up and remove the sd to get the files of it the warranty is void. I really don't want to send it in because I believe it couldbe rescued but I don't know how to do it. I have tried different solutions to recover the BIOS but to no avail. I can't get the various programs I used to work. If somebody can send me a link with the latest BIOS but not in the current form found on the lenovo support page I might be able to extract the files, now I have only found older BIOS files.

Please help!

Re: Yoga 910 Bios 2JCN27WW bricked my laptop

If the computer doesn't do anything, then how would you load a new BIOS on it? You could create a bootable USB recovery drive using another Win 10 computer, but that won't help if you never backed up the 910.  Rule of thumb: The FIRST thing you should do with a new computer is create a complete recovery set and bootable media. I've been doing it forever and I can't tell you how many times I've needed that initial recovery set.

Re: Yoga 910 Bios 2JCN27WW bricked my laptop

I installed bios 27W and did not have any issues what so ever. The only way that a bios can go bad is if your was not plugged in during the bios update process or if it plugged in somehow disconnecting the charger through the update. I was about to update my computer to bios 36W today but I am very hesitant as bios 27W has worked wonderfully and has not given me any problems and that includes than fans. The fans no longer run very fast as they used to but rather turn on once in a while like they should. Other than that the fans are off and the cpu stays cool.

I managed to recover the BIOS with the help of a forum member, my digital life forum. I never thought of using the motherboard name for the  BIOS files. It should be AgeraS.FD.

Give your email and I will send you the file you need. Put the file on a formatted USB stick and restart your PC. I can't remember which key you need to hold down while doing it but it's not hard to Google it. It might be the R key.
