Yoga 910 Novo button not working properly?

Yoga 910 131KB 80VF glass, Windows 10

Bought this computer on Monday. I let all of the Windows updates install (now running anniversary update) and accepted all of the Lenovo updates (about 8).

At this point, I figured I'd back the thing up. The manual says to either click the OneKey icon or press the Novo button. Here's where it goes amiss:

- Pressing the Novo button while in Windows does nothing.

- Pressing the Novo button after shutdown brings up a menu that does not include a backup option. The "recovery" option brings up Windows Recovery and it doesn't see any recovery images.

- There is no OneKey launcher I can find either by digging through the Metro selections, program search functions or digging through folders.

So.. is the manual wrong or am I missing something?

And you can add me to the list of those who have an always-on fan after the updates.

Re: Yoga 910 Novo button not working properly?

Please state your exact model number.

Your machine is probably a special build for best buy.

You mentioned SKU.

Your SKU, model is NOT a Lenovo machine. It is a Bestbuy Lenovo machine.

I cant state yes or no if OKR is on your machine.

I disk management view of partitions on your machine would kinda help.

Please also state if your machine came with win 8/8.1 and you upgraded to win 10.

Some other user stated to uninstall/reinstall wlan driver to avoid fan always on. I can not confirm this at this time.

Canada? I bought it in Florida. 910 131KB 80VF

Yes, it came with Windows 10.

Just updated the BIOS to the one released yesterday that addresses the fan.

Re: Yoga 910 Novo button not working properly?

Canada? I bought it in Florida. 910 131KB 80VF Core i7 500Gb SSD, 16Gb Ram.

Bought it Monday. As in four days ago. So it's not Win 8.1, it's Win 10.

There's nothing that indicates it's any different from one bought directly from Lenovo. No branding or added software.

Win 10 updated itself to the anniversary build. I've imaged the whole hard drive using Windows 7 backup utilities. Even created a recovery disc. Though I'd far prefer the Lenovo backup system which doesn't seem to be available.

Re: Yoga 910 Novo button not working properly?

It's been a while since I last used Onekey for creating and restoring storage device system image dumps,  but my recollection was that the backups were created from within the OneKey application which can be launched when windows 10 is running,  and restores can be performed by pressing the novo button when the computer is off.

The reason why I stopped using the onekey backup feature is because windows provides an equivalent facility,  called for creating and restoring a system image,  for the purposes of dumping and testoring the state of your entire hard drive.

That's just it. I can't figure out how to launch OneKey. The Novo button does nothing with Windows 10 running and I can't for the life of me find any way to launch OneKey. It's not in the programs, not in the metro interface.. nowhere I can find.

But it's a little moot as I let Windows make a backup thumbdrive and used the Windows 7 backup tools to save an image on a portable hard drive. I also finally got File History to turn on, so I have that, as well. So, I THINK I'm fairly well backed up. But I've said that, before.

Much thanks.

Googling "download lenovo recovery"  came up with this official-looking link:

Re: Yoga 910 Novo button not working properly?

Sorry for the location confusion, I had 3 yoga posts up at 1 time, my bad.

Glad the BIOS update fixed your fan issue. This is a hot topic lately for several machines.

I use win 7 backup also for my machine.

Lenovo vs Bestbuy model numbers and custom builds for resellers.

Per Bestbuy, you have  Model: 80VF007TUS .

Per Lenovo psref, 3 models showing, all with OKR.

http://psref.lenovo.com/Product/Lenovo_YOGA_910_13?search=true

==

You seem to have a nice machine.

It appears to me the Bestbuy build does not include OKR, which is not noted.

We learn the hard way vendors watch the $ line.

An OKR system would have a D partition of somewhat large size.

Sadly your Bestbuy system does not match the owners manual, but you overcame that.
