Shut down your laptop, then using a small pin push the tiny button on the left side of your laptop next to where the power button is (Novo button) it looks like a reset button it's recessed into the chassis.

I"d suggest a full shut down before making any BIOS changes.  Hold the SHIFT key while selecting shut down.

Re: Yoga 910 crazy loud fan even when CPU at <35%

I bought another one from a different store. i7, 512GB SSD, 16GB RAM, not the glass version this time and the fan whine is much quieter than the previous one so all of them don't have the problem. The other one also came with a newer bios, so maybe they did something to correct the problem, or maybe it's just random...

Hi Amy,

I followed the instructions to update the BIOS and the WLAN driver and it didn't work. I at first tried the Maximum processor rate to 99% following some of the other suggestions in this thread, it helped a bit but didn't work and and reset the values to 100% and followed your instructions. I'm still having an issue with the fan noise.

Hi Amy,

I installed the new version v.35 of the BIOS. It did seem to help with how often the fan comes on and the RPMs at which it runs, although changing the cooling policy from Active to Passive when plugged in had already helped quite a bit.

Unfortunately, I still seem to have the problem with "whining." It's hard to put a finger on exactly what noise is being produced, but my ears are ringing constantly so that even when the fan is not on, I still feel like I'm hearing it. It's verging on making me ill. I'm not sure how much longer I can stick with it.

Anyway, you asked to hear from people who were still having this problem after the new BIOS, so count me as one. I hope there's a fix soon.

Ted

P.S. I'm also having the problem with the keyboard producing double letters. *Sigh*.

My findings;

- Bios update 2jcn35ww makes the fan less 'eager', it prevents it from firing up like a rocket;

- Putting the power plan 'system cooling policy' on passive doesn't make a difference;

- Limited the power plan 'maximum processor state' helps for a quiter fan (and because of that a less noticable whistling sound), .. but that's not really a very 'professional' option, is it.

Problem this is the high-pitch sound the fan produces. Acceptable for a $500 laptop maybe, but not for this flagship Lenovo Yoga.

Is the fan noise a problem of the UHD version? Does the FHD, 8 gb version has the same issue?

If yes, is this BIOS update only for the UHD version or not? Thanks and hope you will reply fast

My findings;
- Bios update 2jcn35ww makes the fan less aggressive but still there is still a Problem with to much fan activity. I wait for another BIOS update. If this is not going to satisfy me I will outsource my Lenovo and get a different model/make.
Lenovo has to provide a solution now, if not the negative Publicity is going to increase, I won't spare the colleagues I know with These Details. so Lenovo get the hands out of the pocket, if not I will leave the next time the money in my pocket if it Comes to purchase a Lenovo .

BIOS is for all models and the issue exists in all models too.

Just noticed pressing the backspace button makes the whine louder suggesting something is touching the fan from the keyboard side. Crap QC from Lenovo and the customer support has been way too slow!

I thought I was the only one hearing it even when I knew for sure it was off!
