Re: Yoga 910 crazy loud fan even when CPU at <35%

To downgrade your bios back to an earlier version you have to enter the bios setting by clicking the Novo button which is on the side of your computer. The computer must be turned off to click the button. Then once your in the bios setting, click on configuration then enable bios downgrade option. Then save change and exit. Then download bios 2JCN28WW https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles/2jcn28ww.exe

It does work as I have it on my laptop and the fan does not turn on anymore and google chrome runs like a breeze. Also the CPU no longer throttles which caused the fans to turn on and lower performance causing lag. Also check out this thread https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/910-13ISK-BIOS-CAUSING-STARTUP-ISSUE/m-p/3597921#M49566 which is proof as people have reported it works and I'm the original poster and the one that found this bios Is the fix.

I am still having the loud fan noise issue. I've updated the BIOS and updated the drivers as specified. Please provide a new solution.

I have Bios 34 and had fan noise until I uninstalled the Qualcomm WLAN driver INSTALLER. Now no fan noise at all.

Uninstall Qaulcomm Wireless Installer as that should stop the fan from coming on.

I've done all the recommended changes from BIOS 35 Quiet Mode to the uninstall of Quallcomm installer. The fan still behaves erratically. Comes on for a few seconds, spins, then shuts down. It rarely is on for more than a couple minutes and therefore the on and off hissing is the primary annoyance. Again, all this is with nothing more than a single window on Firefox open.

There are probably background processes running. I get this, too. Thing is, by the time I get Task Manager up and running, whatever it was is already over and the fan's wound down. A little digging and I can see that virus definitions were updated, OneDrive files were sync'd and automatic background stuff like that. Sundays, it does it a lot, but that's the day I have it set to back up to my NAS drive. You might try keeping Task Manager running so you can quickly switch over and catch what's tasking the processor enough to make the fan spin.

There are so many processes it would be nice to know which ones can be uninstalled. Cortona is a huge issue but of course Microsoft isn't going to let you remove something that provides them with all your activity logs. I've disabled it but it can't be fully turned off or uninstalled. But I'll take a closer look and see if any processes are triggering the fan.

Maybe go down to BIOS 28 to see if it works and uninstall the Qualcomm installer? Based on the other post, people's issues don't seem to have resolved, but, it does appear that a Windows firmware update sent the Yoga 910 into a frenzy. My first couple weeks with the laptop were amazing and as soon as I updated the Lenovo and Windows updates everything went horribly wrong.

Keep us posted if the BIOS rewind works well. Cheers!
