Removed WLAN driver

For the umpteenth time, it's not the driver. It's the Qualcomm driver INSTALLATION program that's the issue. Remove that PROGRAM then install the V.12 WLAN driver from the Lenovo site. Gotta go to Control Panel and REMOVE PROGRAMS to get it out. Uninstalling the WLAN driver doesn't help. The driver installation program hangs. You can see it in Task Manager.

Re: Yoga 910 crazy loud fan even when CPU at <35%

Ok, so with BIOS 36 and the WLAN uninstalled, it seems like my unit has been tamed a bit (still haven't tried quiet mode yet); however, would anyone be able to tell me why my benchmarks are so low?? I am able to get it to run at 100%, 3512MHz with temps right around 80 degrees C. The fans spin up and definitely make some noise, but not unbareable. With that said, when I bench my CPU, I am getting scores of 375 on the single thread, and 1039 on the multi thread. Any clue as to why these numbers would be so low?? Thanks in advance for any help, this forum has saved me a lot of headache and I really appreciate the effort put in by everyone!

bios 35w and 36w slowed the computer down in order to decrease fan noise. I just went ahead and downgraded to bios 28w and the fans barely ever turn on and the computer is really fast. With bios 36w the fans constantly stayed on at low speeds.

Sorry...not real sure why that posted twice, other than the fact that I was having some issues with my login.

Anyway, does downgrading to 28w have any negative effects at all? Also, "rev_b" on page 42 of this thread posted a picture that shows MUCH better benchmark results while running 36w. Any thoughts?

Removed the duplicate post.

Hi there, I join this thread since I've just bought a Yoga 910 and, of course, am experiencing same issue.
Thanks to this thread I "solved" setting quiet mode in the UEFI. Nevertheless I'm disappointed, since this probably means I am not using 100% of this device's capabilities.

Overall, a great computer. I can survive with no SD slot... but this noise issue is really bad.

Already updated all drivers and the UEFI, no change. I really hope they'll solve in the future. Will keep monitoring this thread for news.

Thanks all, for sharing any news...

So you did all of the updates and changed the BIOS, with no positive effect on the fan noise? Making those changes helped my fan noise immediately, but I was having issues with why the benchmarks being really "low." I have since figured out that CUID released an updated version of CPU-Z (which I was using), in which they changed all of their parameters and scoring. This is why I was showing different scores than the other guy I had previously mentioned. It has nothing to do with the new BIOS throttling the CPU, as was suggested by someone else. After running Geekbench and 3DMark, I quickly realized my PC was running at its full capacity, generating great benchmark scores while maintaining good temps and acceptable fan noise.
