Yoga 920/8550U Undervolt

Has anyone successfully undervolted a 920 with an 8550U? I've managed to get it running stable at -110mv without BSOD'ing under super heavy loads. When the computer goes to sleep it kicks a reboot of the machine though. Temperature and power saving are tremendous with a -110mv undervolt, so I'd like to figure out how to keep it. I should add that even a -5mv undervolt forces a reboot upon sleep.

Re: Yoga 920/8550U Undervolt

how are you able to change the voltage?  what program are you using? bios doesn't have any of that setting

also, are you getting any whea error 17 in your windows log?  i am tearing my hairs out not knowing what else to do beside returning both.  i am wondering if it's because i updated both the bios and the ME to whatever latest ver that is posted by lenovo.  or is it because i installed win10 from scratch?

Re: Yoga 920/8550U Undervolt

You can undervolt using this app:
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/24075/Intel-Extreme-Tuning-Utility-Intel-XTU-
And google for a guide on how to use it.

Windows system event log shows no whea errors, just one that indicates the system is recovering from an unexpected shutdown. Running the latest BIOS and all windows updates have been applied.

Re: Yoga 920/8550U Undervolt

Thanks for the answer about the whea error.  one more question: did you upgrade both the bios as well as the MEI firmware on your laptop to the lastest one provided on lenovo site?  I have a suspicious feeling that the MEI firmware upgrade could be causing my trouble but it's just a suspicion.

Or are you still on the default bios and MEI firmware that came with it originally?

Re: Yoga 920/8550U Undervolt

My BIOS firmware version is 5NCN29WW, it was updated using the Lenovo Advantage app.

Not too sure how to pull the MEI information.

Re: Yoga 920/8550U Undervolt

I have an older version installed: 11.7.0.1028, so I'm guessing that's not the issue.

Re: Yoga 920/8550U Undervolt

I updated my version of MEI to the one you linked and my system's been stable for a few hours. Multiple sleep/wakes without undervolting with no problems.
