Re: Yoga 920 Hibernate with FN keys

You could create a desktop shortcut for the command C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe /h

Name it "Hibernate."

Then use the shortcut's Properties dialog to create a keystroke combination, such as Ctrl-Alt-H.  Or just double-tap the shortcut with the touchscreen.

Re: Yoga 920 Hibernate with FN keys

Ok thanks!- that could work on going into hibernate----coming out - is there an option other than the power key?

Reason for asking is the power key is on side and not friendly at times in actually making the PC come out of hibernate

Re: Yoga 920 Hibernate with FN keys

I did try the shortcut- it works when going into hibernate but coming back out- I need to hold the power key and restart the PC.  it won't come out of hibernate when the shortcut/Ctlr-Alt-H is used

Re: Yoga 920 Hibernate with FN keys

Good day.

If I'm not mistaken, the keyboard is not being monitored in hibernation as in sleep mode. That's why you must press power key to come out of hibernation. The machine isn't actually restarting. It's restoring the RAM state from the hibernation file on the storage drive.

Regards.

Re: Yoga 920 Hibernate with FN keys

Hi Nate- Yes I realize that- my point is the shortcut may be setting a different register than the power key for the Yoga 920.  It will definitely not come out of hibernation doing the shortcut to go into hibernation then the power key.  It does require a full prolonged press which fully restarts the PC (I opened up Word for example in doing this test and it was not open upon unhibernate/restart)

What happens if you just quick-press the power button when hibernated?

It does take a bit of time to restore, in my experience.
