Yoga 920 Line in Mic

2018-01-02, 5:39 AM

Hi, can't seem to be able to connect an external mic to my Lenovo Yoga 920. There is no Line In Mic showing up on "Recording Devices", only Microphone Array and Stereo Mix. This means that I can't use the microphone from my external headphone on my Lenovo 920.

I have updated the drivers, didn't work, still no Line In Mic. I have also uninstalled the drivers from device manager and rebooted so that the drivers would be automatically reinstalled. Still didn't work.

Any ideas?

It does not work for me either. The internal mic does not work as well since I've reinstalled windows10.

I've had similar issues on other computers recording from a line-in. Try this:

  • Plug your headphones in.
  • Right click on the speaker icon in the taskbar and choose "Recording Devices"
  • In the window where you see "Stereo Mix" and "Microphone Array" right click in the empty space below those and make sure the boxes for "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show disconnected devices" are both checked.
  • If not, once you tick them, the headphone's microphone should appear. You'll have to right click on that and select "enable."

Thank you for the suggestion Doctordon, I just tried that and still no luck. I checked both boxes and I am able to see the disabled devices (such as a bluetooth headset) , yet I cannot see the Mic/Line in even after plugging in the headphones.

I have the same problem. The built-in mic array works but the volume is too low.

I'd have to disassemble it to be sure or maybe @ygit can chime in, but it's possible the jack on the 920 is only a three-connector jack. Left, right and ground. Somewhere, I have headphones with a built-in mic and a four-connector plug. Busy today, but I'll try to test those later in the week.

I contacted Lenovo online support (Online Chat) and they suggested me to do one key recovery. Ridiculous. I found out if I don't plug in the headset, the microphone works much better, but if I plug in a headset, the microphone volume become very low. I googled and found out somebody said rolling back the driver worked for them. I tried it and it worked perfectly for me.

By the way, there is no separate line in mic for Yoga 920, it just treat it as a Source for the "Microphone Array".

For some reason I don't seem to have the option for the Right Panel 3.5mmJack as you pointed out TimWei. I only have the Digital .. I wonder if anyone else has this?
