Re: Yoga 920 and Thunderbolt Dock

So, with latest Thunderbolt drivers, your Yoga 920 is working with the TB3 dock, including USB devices and external monitors?

Re: Yoga 920 and Thunderbolt Dock

Yes.
You just need to download the Intel Thunderbolt driver and the Lenovo Thinkpad Thunderbolt 3 Dock drivers (only for the Ethernet and audio I believe):
https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/acc100356

I didn't know about the Intel Thunderbolt Software until I was googling around for the dock without the keyword of Yoga or 920, and saw people talking about that software.

Now I have several regular USB devices (keyboard, mouse) and Ethernet all going through the dock. The monitors has been working without installing any drivers. I'm having at one 2560x1440 monitor (DP), one 1920x1080 (HDMI), and the laptop build-in 3840x2160 working together. I spent $200 on the dock and almost returned it. I waited because I believed it was still driver issues, and the two eternal monitors worked anyway.

Re: Yoga 920 and Thunderbolt Dock

So, due to the last comments, I finally bought a Yoga 920 (i7 with 16 GB RAM) and the Thunderbolt 3 Dock from Lenovo.

Although I was afraid of getting some trouble, everything was quick and easy! Simply plugged in the dock into the TB 3 port, accepted the shown "allow device" window and everything was working:

- Yoga's battery is loading

- Connected mouse and keyboard via a Logitech dongle

- Ethernet is working

- Three Monitors are working (1 x DP, 1 x HDMI and 1xVGA - laptop-monitor is off)

No need to update or install any drivers!

Re: Yoga 920 and Thunderbolt Dock

Thanks! I ended up getting the D6000 also. Works great with 2 external 4K monitors (Dell p2815Q) connected by Display Port the laptop display stays on 4K (3840x2160) and 60 hz while the external monitors are 4K(3840x2160) and 30 Hz (I think these monitors were just 30Hz) . This also works with on DP and one HDMI for external monitors but the HDMI monitor is slow to connect and occasionally drops out.

Re: Yoga 920 and Thunderbolt Dock

@damianp67

Yes, I also tried the hub today:
- ethernet is working,
- no HDMI nor VGA
- no USB-port (tried a usb stick)

It was very annoying, because I was in a presentation for a customer Smiley Sad

I also installed the driver, which brings the ethernet, but everything else did not work.

Re: Yoga 920 and Thunderbolt Dock

@Dengee

Are you still glad you bought the TB3 dock to use with your Yoga 920? I just ordered the 920 with the USB-C dock and am thinking about cancelling that dock and getting the TB3 based on this thread.

@rockwellkc

Same question to you: Are you still glad you got the TB3 dock for use with your Yoga 920. Not knowing any better, I placed my order for the USB-C dock and based on this thread and seriously thinking about cancelling and replacing with the TB3.

Thanks

Re: Yoga 920 and Thunderbolt Dock

I don't have the USB-C hub but only the Thinkpad Thunderbolt-3 dock.

Yes. I'm very happy with that TB-3 dock still.

I don't have 2 x 4K external display requirement to comment on that feature. But, I am happen with my setup (3 display total) as stated above.

I bought the Bestbuy 16GB / 500GB model for $1,449.99 when it was on-sale.
