Yoga 920 not charging, no lights

So I had my yoga 920 conk out on me at a VERY inopportune time, next month I go abroad to study. Yesterday I started my laptop and started some light browsing when it suddenly shut down. I tried starting it up again, when it came up with the dreaded blue screen saying 'failed to detect boot device' or something. Third boot try onwards, the laptop does not respond to charging, no lights come on, nothing, NADA. Worst part of it? This happened within 10 months of my purchase from USA. I have 54 days of my warranty remaining. I tried static discharges multiple times, no luck.

Went to multiple service centers in Pune, India, but they refused to diagnose the issue saying that they do not service this model since it was not released in India. I'm ready to ship this laptop to the USA with my own expenses to have it fixed or replaced, but so far no customer service has been able to help me out.

Any bright ideas/contacts?

Hi swapneeldatta,

 

Welcome to the Community Forums.

 

You can try to get hold of US tech support team via chat while the warranty is up. They would be open during business hours EST Monday-Friday. When you go to the webpage, change the flag icon on top to USA and language to English.

 

I am sure they would be able to formulate a good action for both of you to work with.

*Failed to detect boot device* Makes me think of the INACCESIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE Blue Screen of Death. What I heard is that you can fix this if you run Windows's Startup Repair. Never heard of this sort of issue ever. You are lucky that you have a warranty. I knew once that someone bought a Lenovo Yoga 910 when they were installing their programs etc. their drive completely failed but Lenovo replaced the laptop and said that this was fixed in the factory.

I'm pretty sure that was the error, I just didn't memorize it fully nor snapped a pic.

I am pretty sure the SSD is fried as well.

Hi, I appreciate your suggestion of formulating a plan with the US customer support. What I've done for the time being is escalated it heavily, and I've got a call back from one of the senior managers at Lenovo India who said there might be a chance to bring it back, despite them denying it the first time I went. Let's see what they are able to help me with, plan B is to contact the US support team. I am afraid that if I ship it to the US, I may need to pay double duty?

Three weeks into the ordeal and still waiting for the refund. The executive handling my case said they tried a refund but it was rejected by their bank, and they are looking into it. I'm getting utterly impatient as I NEED TO HAVE a new machine soon. College starts next week and I CANNOT AFFORD ANOTHER machine since I spent my entire savings on this one machine. If the top brass at lenovo can't figure out how to reimburse a customer, they should stop selling anything at all.
