Re: Yoga 920 quality control problems

I very much agree with this comment.  Decent hardware etc, some problems will always occur.

Customer service has been appalling.  Note this is UK & Ireland so probably a different setup. Ordered the original laptop in 2017. Took 2 weeks for the first replacement.  It is now over 8 weeks since i requested a return & refund.  It took them 4 weeks to arrange the pickup and now I have been waiting nearly a month to get my money back!!

Completely unacceptable, avoid buying from Lenovo direct in UK & Ireland. Shocking.

Re: Yoga 920 quality control problems

I purchased mine in 2017 direct from Lenovo. it was the only way to buy the unit. Yes I was an "early adopter". I'm on my 5th unit and I just gave up. There is no way sending another unit will fix the problem. I told my case manager the 5th unit had the same problems, she never responded to me.

Also annoying are the emails I receive from lenovo telling me they've not received the units I've promised/agreeded to ship back. I go to tracking  and see they were received by Lenovo the day after I shipped and WEEKS before the emails are sent out. Is their system that bad?

My suggestion is to NOT buy from Lenovo direct. Buying from a Best Buy etc, at least you get the protection of things that Best Buy offers. They cannot fix the problems, but they can swap you out to something else. I'd swap out to something else but Lenovo didn't have another 8th gen i7 in their lineup equal to what I have when that was brought as an option.

Well now I have the problem of my Function Key - F5 - making a noise. It never ends with this unit does it?

Re: Yoga 920 quality control problems

I wish I had read this topic before buying my Yoga 920 on the Lenovo's website only two months ago. Now I'm having issues with the keyboard aswell. Despite is brand new and I barely have used it more than 10 days in total everything they can do is making me to send it by mail to the other side of the country (from west coast to the east coast in Canada) to get it fixed. This will leave me without a laptop for at least 3 weeks, just when I need it the most. Lenovo's customer support is terrible.

And now after reading this topic I'm afraid I might have this issue again and again after the repair.

This post is mostly a rant, because I feel so helpless after spending $2000 in a laptop. As the op said, you'd expect high quality controls when you spend this ammount of money in a device.

Yoga woes

2018-08-09, 4:32 AM

Let me start off by saying my 920 works a charm & has arguably the most beautiful screen I have used, touch screen or not

I suffers from mucho useless bloatware & a figidity security that does not like having the in house security replaced by another well recognized third party provider.

There are too many calls for PIN codes with Pin not available because it was changed for security purposes.  The machine has never left my office!

Such a waste of time getting this puppy up and running as it should.

Such the price of beauty, I suppose

Yeah, this sounds off a litte. Mine only shipped with McAffe, which I removed, and Lenovo's stuff. Of the latter, only Lenovo App Explorer was probably unnecessary, but not in the way, so I left it. The other Lenovo-specific software is rather necessary. Windows only asks me for a PIN when the fingerprint reader can't read my fingers (usually when they're cold).

Anything else that could be considered bloatware was part of Win 10 (XBox, Office 365, etc).

never big McAfee fan ...always loved Inviricible, but won't work with Win10 ...replaced McAfee with Kaspersky, having used it ever since Inviricible went belly up (methinks PCMatic may be its offspring as they use similar technology)
