Re: Yoga 920 touchpad jumpy

2018-07-23, 11:04 AM

So got my Yoga 920 back from repairs this 3. time - it took 2½ week - and yes - still the same issue!!!.. Lenovo apparently has a service where they unpack the PC, put on some nice plastic and send it back - and although the plastic is nice, I really don't give a f... f...!! I'm really getting pissed here because its very provoking to just wrap the pc and return it without even trying to solve the problem..

Now they want me to send it in again for a 4. time... I practically haven't had my PC since i bought it.. I'll have to wait a few weeks because I need a laptop right now - but after that I'll keep sending it in - and maybe some day they will be able to solve our problem - cause I wont give up even though that might be thier goal.. Until then - stay away from the Yoga 920 - and after this non-service I'd say Lenovo in general.

I'll post in a month or so again - depending on how long it takes the 4. time..

If you have the same problem - please reply here if you haven't yet with a "me to", thanks!

Thanks a lot for keeping us posted! I just bought a 920 and man this laptop is perfect but this touchpad issue is driving me nuts. I've tried every driver possible, including using Driver Easy and updating to a bunch of drivers that never seem to be found by Lenovo or Windows; however still no luck. It looks like it has to do with the touchpad driver itself but I'm not sure. Also to add, I used a 910 for the last 2 years and have never even once experienced any issue similar :/ Kinda annoying but the laptop is top notch otherwise so just gonna have to stick it out and see if there's any solutions. ??‍♂️

Re: Yoga 920 touchpad jumpy

My Yoga 920 suffers from what I call "intermittent touchpad  cursor freeze syndrome".  For unknown reasons when using the touchpad, the cursor will  temporarily freeze and the ONLY THING that releases the cursor is to stop touching the touchpad for anywhere betweeen 2 and 6 seconds.  It is as if the touchpad driver has gone into a locked up mode and continuing touching the touchpad just pushes it into further lockup.  If, for example, I don't stop touching the touchpad, the cursor will remain frozen forever.  It can ONLY be recovered by removing input from the touchpad.  SURELY this is something Lenovo (or even Microsoft?) could fix.  I am frustrated that ater 2 years of ownership (and numerous updates from Lenovo and Microsoft) that this problem persists.

FWIW - when I use an external mouse (mine is a Logitech MX 2) I do not experience ANY of these intermittent cursor freezes.  The driver my Lenovo insists on installing for the Touchpad is a 2016 Microsoft Mouse driver.  I have spent way to many hours using Google to hunt for a solution.  None that I've found ever corrected this ongoing problem.

If ANYONE has found a solution please post it.  Other than the irritation of the intermittent cursor control I love my Yoga 920.  As this computer represents a signficant investement I hope to get many more years of service from it.

As I posted in another thread today, my intermittent cursor problem has been eliminated.  All it took was removal of the Lenovo Vantage Battery Status icon on my SysTray.  I don't know WHY this fixes it, but in the last few hours it has worked flawlessly with zero cursor freezing.

Just for clarity, make sure you remove the BATTERY icon by using the Lenovo Vantage software to eliminate it.

I don't know if it is possible to just delete the icon - nor whether that eliminates the problem.

Good luck.
