How long did it take for that to come out though?

From initial release? Honestly quite long it feels tbh. It's so weird now with BatteryBar showing 8+ hours in runtime when I used to dread so much seeing only 5 hours at almost 100%. Feels like a new computer now honestly lol.
In terms of fans, undervolt has been excellent with me so can't say much there really.

So, a small discovery I made on the fan thing. If your fans are running (at whichever settings you have them with Fn + Q), if you scroll to any modes and put it at battery saver, it turns off the fan.
My fans started running cuz a process was eating up CPU, after it finished fans stayed on even while 51-54 degrees. Cycled with Fn + Q from Batter saver and back again and it made the fans turn off. Hope this helps as it fixed it for me.

Yeah, i've noticed that too but usually they switch on anyway a few moments later.

Gotta say that with the new BIOS update it looks like the fans are less active when working on battery. When charging they are still there though, especially when browsing.

So basically there is no way to fix this for now?

And also the Lenovo Vantage is such a horrible application. Should have the option to turn off the intelligent cooling mode and opt for the quiet mode.

FYI - I discovered that the Vantage application just changes your BIOS settings. If you want, you can just set the setting in the BIOS (F2 when starting up) and uninstall Vantage entirely. You just won't be able to change it on the fly any more, you'd need to reboot to get back into the BIOS. Though I'm not really sure what the different fan modes even do, I noticed zero difference between intelligent cooling/max performance/cool & quiet. Always the fans on full blast and CPU >50°C unless on battery power only.

The fan modes are in reality power modes. Power saver limits how much max CPU/GPU you can use (if you have it on in a game, prepare for lag fest). Intelligent cooling uncaps to how high CPU/GPU can be used (in games I get an FPS increase about 20-30 frames) and max performance gives me about 35-40 frames extra on games. I don't see it much as a fan mode changer because of this, but since everytime you change modes the fans reset, it has helped me reduce fan noise when changing modes. Fans speed up when processes in task manager are taking up CPU (mostly) so I always check when they turn up if something is running higher than expected. So the modes do indirectly change fan configuration.

Man that sucks. They should really give the option to control the fan speed with a slider or something cause this is annoying.

Figured I should add into this conversation.  I just got the c940 (FHD 12GB RAM) version as a open box from Best Buy for 899.99.  I was really worrried about all the fan comments especially getting an open box item assuming that is maybe why it was returned.  However I'm pleased to say I have had zero issues. I use the laptop to watch movies on my Emby server and also Netflix and YouTube TV alot. Even with blankets covering the vents I get little to no fan noise.  When plugged in and pushing my unit harder the fan will kick in but it''t no different than what I would expect.   Morale here is if you are on the fence and mainly due to fan noise, just buy this laptop already.  It's great!
