Interesting.. I have experienced the same thing. With battery it is now really fine rarly any fan. Vantage is on intelligent mode.

I have to check out how it is when it is plugged in. Temps are still arround 50 Celsius for me.

Listening closely today, I think I can hear a faint fan noise.  Not really sure.  It might just be that my room isn't that quiet to hear it.  But I do hear my MacBook fan turned on once in a while previously, though not often.  Maybe the air-cond helps.

I now switched back to Intelligent Mode and the fan is silent on battery mode. This is so weird :) Yesterday there were some Realtek and Fortemedia driver updates and I updated Windows 10 to version 1909. Suddenly my PC is showing longer battery estimates too. It's been varying between 5-9 hours. Currently shows 4h 45 min remaining at 71%. Let's see how long it really lasts in reality. It could be just that the estimates are wrong like often they are.

These are the best temperatures I've ever seen with this laptop on idle. I wonder did Microsoft do some compatibility updates in v1909 for 10th gen processors?

It might be that Microsoft did some fixes which might have made the difference. I found out this from the changelogs:
- Windows 10 version 1909 also improves general battery life and power efficiency improvements for devices with certain processors.

I can also say that the battery life has definitely improved. I've timed that I already got 5 hours of light use (mainly browsing internet). Battery indicator currently shows 22% left, estimating 1h 58 min still left.

Re: Yoga C940 4k - Fan runs constantly

Just wanted to chime in, as I was experiencing the same issues as many of you.

I've been running CoreTemp and HWMonitor over the past two days to check the temperatures, and both programs showed around 50-53 degrees when the computer was idling. Oddly, I tried opening a whole bunch of applications (10+) and tabs (13-15), and the temperature only rose to around 55. Despite the high base temps, it seems to handle everyday loads pretty well.

But just a few hours ago, without me updating the system, the idling temperatures took a dive.

Like Jonim, my temps are now similar, and I can actually feel a difference when touching the chassis.

I really hope that this is a real fix, and not just coincidence.

However, the fan problem persists... But maybe, just maybe, we can keep our fingers crossed for a fix.

I am using FHD screen and have exact same problem. I often also see some glitter on the screen which could be a different issue.

It seems to be pretty erratic. I've tried different temperature monitors, and they vary quite a bit, even within their respective measurements.

Today, I placed the laptop on my couch, thereby blockin the fan exhaust - and still achieved an idle temperature of 31 (!!) degrees. Other times, the temperature when only having Word open is around 50 degrees.

As I am typing this, the temperature is averaging around 37-39 degrees. Quite satisfactory, but I cannot replicate these results with any consistency.

There must be something weird going on, something we can't understand. I once read that the intelligent cooling for this laptop is using some new machine learning based algorithm which adjusts performance and cooling based on what the user is doing. I know from experience that machine learning based algorithms are sometimes hard to get consistent. Just a hunch but it could be related to that.
