Yoga C940 Keyboard flashes on, but no monitor; purchased 8/2020

2021-01-20, 20:42 PM

Frustrating because it happened one week into the new Yoga, so this is the replacement and the same thing is happening.  Yes, the caps lock light is on. Suggestions?  Is this a chronic problem? Daughter is pretty upset :-(

Thanks!

Yes, it's a common problem and requires a motherboard replacement to fix.

Do yourself a favour and avoid the buggy mess that's the C940 and Lenovo entirely.

Get a refund and buy something else.

Welcome to the Community Forums @Azron42!

Does the Caps Lock key still lights up/responds when pressed even though you're not seeing anything on the screen?

Try pressing the Novo button hole underneath the device and see if it will respond.

Make sure that the device is OFF before pressing it.

Also, test the machine if you have an external monitor/display.

You can connect an external monitor into the device through its ThunderboltTM 3 connector. Please see page 3 of your Yoga C940's User Guide to see where exactly it is located.

You may get in touch with our Lenovo phone support at 877-453-6686 for further assistance if the steps above will not work to see the device's warranty entitlement.

Thanks,

Thanks!  The caps lock light stays on. We tried the reset button/hole: nothing happened. But I am not sure we did so with it turned off.  Speaking of that, how can we turn off the machine?  Holding the power button results in the key board repeatedly flashing slowly two times, with two "huff" fan noises each time also. but does not turn off.  Kind of weird.  Any simple solution to turning it off?  Next obvious question...what do you think is wrong with it?  Broken hardware so power cannot get to the screen? or messed up software that is not letting it get there?  Still 6 months on the warranty...send it in for a replacement (again) or a look over?  If so, how do we go about doing that?

I appreciate your time with helping me out!
