Yoga Pro 3 Red Dot on Battery Indicator

2015-02-15, 20:14 PM

My month old Yoga Pro 3 has a red dot on the battery charge indicator. I could swear I read something about it on the forum but cannot find it. No luck with a google search.

Charging, dicharge and usage seems fine.

One Key also notes the battery to be fine.

Anyone else gertting the red dot or know what it means?

Thanks

That's One Key Optimizer, nagging you to run a Checkup, but not very effectively :smileyvery-happy:!

Hope this helps.

USB-C: Just cos it fits don't mean it works.

this is not the best program.  I suddenly got the red dot and finally decided to run the battery calibration.  Ran it two or three times actually.  Eventually the red dot went away.  But within a week it is back.  This is a nuisance.

The red mark can be displayed for 2 reasons. First, with a new laptop, if the battery is held at 100% charge for a week or two the red mark will be displayed to say unplug the adapter. This is because for a new battery to reach optimum efficiency it has to go through a few discharge/charge cycles.

Once this has been done, you can select normal or conservation charging mode.

The red mark will probably appear again at some time. If so, click on the battery icon to open the One Key Optimiser. Click the battery health icon at the top and then make sure the 'save power' tab is selected.

You will see it says 'The battery has been in use for a long time and calibration is needed'. This is the reason for the red mark. Calibration is to make the estimated battery run time more accurate. The problem is it will take several hours for the battery performance to be examined during which time you can't put the laptop to sleep and you can't use it either.

To get rid of this red dot, open task manager and stop all the one key processes that are running. Now click on the battery icon to start one key optimiser and allow it run a checkup - yes it will operate even though you have in theory stopped it in task manager !

Close one key and the red mark should now be gone.

Hope this helps.
