Yoga S730-13IWL Thunderbolt software

Hi!

Just bought a new Yoga S730-13IWL (81J0002VMX). After setting it up I also updated Windows 10 to version 1903. I noticed that Lenovo Vantage also had updated (almost) all drivers/BIOS to their latest versions (see screen dump). Great!

 

However, something seems to be missing from the list in Vantage (was not updated): Thunderbolt software/drivers.

 

According to the Lenovo download page:

there is a new (25 Jun 2019) Thunderbolt driver available (under USB Device, FireWire, IEEE 1394):

 

"This package provides Intel Thunderbolt (TBT) Driver and is supported on Yoga S730-13IWL, 730S-13IWL and running the following Operating Systems: Windows 10 (64-bit)", 133.9 MB25 Jun 2019.

 

The version number shown is: Intel 1.41.613.1

 

When examining my Yoga S730-13IWL I can currently see the following installed Thunderbolt software and drivers:

 

Software package version: 17.4.77.400
Application version:  17.4.77.10
Service version:  17.4.77.6
Controller driver version: Unknown
Networking driver version: Unknown
Thunderbolt(TM) bus driver  (tbt100x.sys): 17.4.77.13
Thunderbolt(TM) networking driver (tp2p100x.sys): 17.4.77.5
 
Since these were not updated by Vantage I guess they could be quite old (the latop had Windows 10 version 1803 before my update to version 1903)?
 
- Should the "Intel Thunderbolt (TBT) Driver" version Intel 1.41.613.1 be installed on my laptop?
- Should this have been done automatically by Lenovo Vantage (together with the other drivers)?

Hi jjohanson,

 

Greetings.

 

If you are not having any issues with your Thunderbolt features then perhaps it would be enough to stay with what is currently working for you right now.

 

Since the release of Windows 10 1903 and new version of Vantage has just recently been released, better if we allow current offered drivers for now and wait for new developments in the coming weeks as it would be offered automatically.

 

I hope this helps answer your query or help you decide how to proceed.

If you prefer to go a different way then best to back-up your files and create a restore point just in case.

Thanks for the feeback!

No problems so far (actually I have just unpacked the laptop and set it up. No Thunderbolt devices connected yet).

 

I was just confused by the lack of Thunderbolt updates in Vantage and the difference in version numbers (17.4.77.xx installed and 1.41.613.1 offered by the Lenovo download web pages). The update shown on the Lenovo download web page also has a rather recent release date.

 

I will wait a while and see...

Hi all! On my s730 I just downloaded the latest thunderbolt drivers from the Lenovo downloads section and plugged in a certified TB3 cable between my laptop and Qnap NAS which is also TB3 rated but the windows network status speed is only showing 20gbps. Is this normal? What are you guys getting? I'm assuming it should be 40gbps speed?!

Hi anyone! Recently after installing the latest TB3 drivers after a windows update and subsequent reboot I've not been able to get the TB3 adapter working? I also seem to be getting this pop-up message from windows after plugigng in my TB3 cable to my NAS "this thunderbolt application is not in use anymore and can be safely removed" - google says it's because it's the wrong version TB driver. I plugged in another TB3 device (10GBE adapter) and it's showing up in device manager as a USB device but no network adapter showing up, so defo something up with the latest TB3 driver? Any ideas on solutions anyone please?
