I have the exact same issue here. Couple of questions:

  1. Is either  of you running Linux by any chance? I used Windows for just 1 boot to try out stuff (and the mouse worked), and then formatted the disk to install Arch Linux. Now under Linux the mouse randomly works or doesn't work on each boot. I am unsure if the problem was also present under Windows, since the fact that it worked that one boot under windows isn't saying much, since it also work randomly on Linux.
  2. Does you model have the Synaptics touchpad or Elan? Mine is equiped with the Elan touchpad.

I'm running on windows, so I don't think that will be the problem. The second question, I don't know, how can I figure that out. I think I have the Synaptics touchpad but I'm not sure.

Did one of you guys figure it out already ?

Hi guys it should be the Synaptics as far as I know. Still not working. I talked with the support an they just told me that i can sent it in for repair.... But I am sure it is just a software issue what do you think?

I managed to fix mine, it was a software issue in Linux for me. Are you running Linux as well?

Well, for me aswell it looks like a software issue. I think if they just find the problem and change it in the software, we could update our software and the problem must be gone... I've also spoke to some support and they gave me some tips, such as: deleting and reinstalling the software, changing the sensitivity, etc. All did not work... so I really don't know what to do either. I don't want it to send for the repair because my parents just bought it on my recommendations...

Hi, I have the same issue.

I've had the laptop for two days. Sometimes on start up there is no response, and I have to restart to (temporarily) fix the issue. More consistently, though, is an intermittent failure to respond during general use - sometimes this means the cursor gets stuck for a few moments, 5 or 6 times a minute; other times it just drags or stops and starts, rather than moving smoothly across the screen.

If anyone has managed to resolve this without sending it away, please let me know how you did it. I'm not using Linux, btw.

I had same issue, I think its resolved now, I updated all the drivers.

Go to  Lenovo Support – Drivers, Updates, How-To Guides, Technical Help and more - Lenovo Support IN.

Detect your pc. Then click on Drivers and software.

In Automatic Driver Update tab start the scan, So after completion of this scan, it asked me for 3 updates, 1: Graphics, 2:Touch pad 3:BIOS firmware.

I updated all of them, after doing this, issue did not occur again as of now.

Thanks,

Hope this helps everyone in this thread.

Hi there,

running a Yoga 530 14-ARR but have the exact same issue. The issue occured to me on Zorin OS 15.3 and Ubuntu 20.04. Then I decided to send it in for repairs. Got it back with Windows 10 Home freshly reset, so I updated all devices possible using "Lenovo Vantage" (Realtek, VGA and BIOS) and even the Windows System itself. The error remains...

A reboot or hybernatioon usually gets the touchpad to work again, in my case dependant on the laptop's mood it might also boot negelecting the wifi-card and touchscreen additionaly, which are the also fixed by the same method.
