Yoga c940-15 - How to make keyboard backlight turn off after a timeout?

2020-06-11, 15:29 PM

I have been monitoring the power consumption of my c940-15. Having the keyboard backlight on increases power draw by about 1 to 1.5 Watts (depending on brightness). This can easily take away 10 or even 20% of the battery life, depending on usage. I would expect that the backlight would turn itself off after not using the keyboard for a while, but it does not. Not on this model, at least. Once it's on, it stays on until you turn it off. Shouldn't there be a timeout available, to save power? As an option, I suppose? I can't find one in the BIOS, or in Vantage.

Interesting, as the C940 14" switches the backlight off after 15 seconds and there's no way of keeping it on!

Hi Jerry C,

Greetings.

Windows 10 still have the power option under advance so that you can create your own power plan.

Display and other features can be set under certain condition you like.

You can probably try that since I am not optimistic that the BIOS have an advance option for this.

I hope this helps answer your query.

Update us how it goes.

Regards

Seems to be a bug. I have C940-15 and the keyboard lights regularly turn off after ca. 15 seconds. I personally would actually prefer an option to keep the backlight on!
