Yoga c940 heat problem

2020-07-18, 1:07 AM

Hi,

I have the device for about 2 weeks, but doesn't go under 45 even when am dong nothing just watching the thermal.

The usual Temps are Mid 50s, the device mostly gets warm

am using the intellegent mode, and not doing anything heavy , mostly borwsing and waching videos

and the temps on that situation reaches 60s, and for few moments 90s before drops back 50s-60s

Last time I tried to hold the device from the edges , to give a  good air flow with nothing to block , still didn't go down, stayed 50s-60s

is this normal ? am concerned what will happen when I start to use more load .

I only installed kaspersky , office, and firefox, still using the Laptop in the original state

and of course updating Windows

Shall I Reset the windows, or what to do?

Sad to say, but from my experience you are pretty much alone with your issues... c940 is a crap but they ignore this.

C940 is a terrible laptop full of bugs. Unfortunately Lenovo never fix any of these issues but just keep releasing a hundred newer laptops every other week.

It was £1400 down the drain for me, I hardly use it. Even the battery empties when it's completely switched off.

I created an account here just to comment how terrible the C940 is (hence the username).

The C940 is trash.  It constantly runs at high temps and throttles itself AT IDLE.  To anyone considering the C940, look anywhere else!

I've had one since nov 19 and I've liked it so far. The 4k model. The battery sucks. I even use the battery care mode that stops charging at 60% as I don't go out much any more. But that 60% lasts less than 2 hours. The fan noise is at the limit of tolerable so it's fine. I use it mostly connected to an egpu. The problem is that this last week it began to overheat (I think) at first it was shutting down while playing fortnite and last Friday it suddenly restarted 3 times during a Teams call using dual screens. I was used to it getting very hot under normal use but it had never shut down like this before. I started measuring the cpu temp and I'm getting 90 degrees spikes even while surfing now... Is anyone having the same issue recently? Some bad update hopefully?
