Yoga jumps out of sleep mode

My 14" Yoga (non-pro) seems to jump out of sleep mode whenever I put it into sleep mode. This even happens when the Yoga has been folded up and put in by bag, giving a high chance of damaging the laptop or even causing other kinds of damage.

Currently I'm working around it by putting it into Hibernate (which, I admit, is also pretty fast). But that's obviously not a nice workaround. Does anybody know how to fix this? I tried to find out what causes the event but the system logs are rather strange:

I do get:

The system has returned from a low power state.

Sleep Time: ‎2016‎-‎07‎-‎23T21:07:12.012475900Z
Wake Time: ‎2016‎-‎07‎-‎23T21:07:21.793067400Z

Wake Source: Power Button

But I certainly haven't touched the power button, and it seem to be working fine otherwise.

Re: Yoga jumps out of sleep mode

Hi there, Maart –

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options\Choose what closing the lid dose – When close the lid – On battery sleep – Plugged in sleep.

To prevent programs from waking your computer:

Open Power Options by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Security, and then clicking Power Options.

On the Select a power plan page, click Change plan settings for the plan that you want to change.

On the Change settings for the plan page, click Change advanced power settings.

On the Advanced settings tab, expand Sleep, expand Allow wake timers, choose Disable for both when your computer is running on battery and when it's plugged in, and then click OK.

Update us how it goes.

Regards,

Re: Yoga jumps out of sleep mode

Doesn't do anything. After 6/7 seconds the login screen reappears. "Important wake timers" was on, so kudos for thinking about that. Should I reinstall Windows to get rid of this? I'm on an upgraded Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. Funny enough I upgraded because of Windows 8.1 power settings not working, seems that issue is back.

Re: Yoga jumps out of sleep mode

How do you re-install "Power management"? I don't have a Yoga 900, I've got a 14" machine.

Re: Yoga jumps out of sleep mode

Hey, whadayaknow, I think I fixed it myself. I've always been using an external keyboard. It seems that one of the keys on the laptop keyboard got stuck. I've pressed all the keys on the left side (which did get into touch with something gooey far in the past). I guess Windows interprets any key as power key to get out of sleep. Now it at least goes over 10s, I'll try and monitor it.

Must have been an Fn key or something, everything else worked fine. Maybe in next Lenovo Yoga versions: disable the keyboard after hitting 270 degrees or something, the keyboard is useless in tent mode anyway.

At least I'm left with a BIOS upgrade, upgraded to version 99 now. Did reinstall Lenovo Settings before, without any visible change.

Fixed, thanks for the support.
