Yoga vs. X1 Carbon keyboard

2012-11-28, 17:32 PM

Hi all,

I would like to know more about the differences between the Yoga's and X1 Carbon's keyboard.

I mean, I've seen the layouts and the relevant specs (somewhat different key arrangements, Yoga's smaller right Shift and Enter keys, X1's backlit, etc.), but I would really like to learn a bit more from those of you who had the chance to use both about how they compare in overall feel, comfort, vertical key travel, tactile feedback, and all that.

Are they both essentially based on the same mechanics, are we at least in the same ballpark, or were there  actually  two design/engineering teams at work coming out with similar-looking but notably different keyboards from intensive typist's point of view?

I write and code a lot, so for me the keyboard is really a make-it-or-break-it thing.

Would very much appreciate any help.

Comfort, vertical key travel and tactile feedback, the X1 Carbon keyboard wins hand down.

This is like comparing Ferrari 458 (X1C) and Alfa Romeo 158 (Yoga) on road handling ability.

lead_org, thank you for your quick answer.

Given you impressive Thinkpad streak I see in your signature, is there any other Lenovo you'd suggest me, keyboard-wise?

For example, how do X230's, T430u's and X1 Carbon's keyboards compare?

Thanks again.
