how to set SSD password in YOGA 730-13IKB bios?

2018-10-19, 8:47 AM

hi,

I just had my new Yoga 730 with Samsung pm981 NVME SSD (512GB). I can't find any option to set a password in the bios!

I  have just updated the bios to the latest version.

my goal is to protect my data if someone tries to connect the SSD to USB host or to another machine.

thanks in advance for any help or support

Hi lenovoUser12786!

Welcome to the Lenovo Community Forum!

As we were checking here, the Lenovo Yoga 730 does not have a hard drive/SSD password configuration in the BIOS. However, you can set an Administrator password in the BIOS. See the attached photo below for reference.

Regards!

No, this is not correct. I had managed to do that myself. you have to change the disk mode to "AHCI " then the related option will appear in the security section. however, there will be some implications regarding SSD data when switching to "AHCI". I had manage to get over this by doing a backup/restore cycle.
