keyboard backlight bug

2021-06-02, 9:17 AM

hi guys im using I'm using Yoga slim 7 pro  and im having an issue with vantage keyboard backlight setting.. I wanted to turn off this backlight - permanently, but its automatically switching back to "Auto" mode and i have no idea why.

See attached screenshots. Is this a known bug or something?

I've turned this off for now but in another 2-3 hours it will switch back to auto... even without any reboots etc.

Hi CyberSam2021,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Could well be that the Lenovo Foundation driver is acting up and not keeping the settings.

Here's what you can try: (Check Step 3 first)

Step 1. Uninstall Lenovo Vantage Service & Lenovo Vantage from Apps.
1. Press Windows Icon + X.
2. Open Device Manager. Find --> System devices --> System Interface Foundation V2 Device. Right-click and select "Uninstall Device".
3. Reinstall Lenovo Vantage from the Windows store.
4. Launch Lenovo Vantage. The service will be installed automatically.
5.  If it does not install automatically , you can download Lenovo System Interface Foundation from here and then install it manually.

Step 2. Download Vantage
Download Lenovo Vantage from the Windows Store here
or try the Enterprise version found here

Step 3. Vantage Services.
Check for the latest Vantage Service drivers (if available for the device) on the Support Page.
Just plot in the serial number for your device and hit enter, might have to hit it twice. Then head to Drivers & Software then Software & Utilities.

Regards

Voithos

@Voithos update 2 :

Again backlight setting switched back to Auto :/ after reinstalling this app... do you want me to uninstall System Interface Foundation V2 Device driver etc? it seems bit risky but if you want i can give it a try. It won't break anything right?

I already checked the drivers and its up to date.

Hello @ CyberSam2021!

Thanks for posting here at the Community Forums!

Yes, you also need to uninstall the Lenovo System Interface Foundation driver off your Yoga Slim 7 Pro aside from uninstalling the Vantage app itself.

Please click on this link to see the steps on how it can be removed.

Once done, reinstall the Vantage app and the Lenovo System Interface Foundation driver again then see if you'll be able to turn off the keyboard backlight again.

Thanks,

Adriel_Lenovo
