Ive had the yoga 900s for over a year, and in the last few weeks, suddenly my battery is acting out. I can charge to 100% and it works fine until around 20% when it suddenly shuts off with no warning. I concect the charger, and turn it on - the battery gauge always states 0%.
why did this start happening - is ther something I can do, or do I need to get it to a lenovo center?

Welcome to the forum.

Most likely a cell in the battery is short-circuited.
Go into Lenovo Vantage -> Hardware Settings -> Power.
What is the indicated condition of the battery?
Can you post the Battery Details report here? That may offer further indications of what the issue may be.

You probably need a new battery. Unfortunately batteries are only warranted for one year so this would be at your expense.

thank you so much for answering quickly-
the battery condition is defined as "Good"
I'm attaching a scrine capture of the details

I'm surprised by the "Good" rating. The battery Full Charge Capacity is only 60% of Design Capacity and the cycle count is 244. That suggests fairly heavy use. It's probably time for a new battery. Fortunately it's quite easy to replace the battery. See the Hardware Maintenance Manual for details.
(For comparison, I have the same battery in my Y900s. The battery is a month older but FCC is 92% of DC with only about 40 cycles.)
