screen brightness changing on its own

Hi All,

I've noticed when opening some windows, the brightness appears to gradually increase. I've gone into the windows display settings and unchecked the option to change brightness automatically. I've also gone into the lenovo settings and turned off all three options under the display settings.

For example, if i have no windows open and then pull up this browser window, the brightness gradually increases. Anyone know why its doing this and how to get it to stop?

This is on a yoga 720 with windows 10 pro with the 4k screen

Re: screen brightness changing on its own

Hello Merkk

Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.

Have a read of the following, any chance that this is able to help at all?

https://lifehacker.com/disable-windows-annoying-adaptive-brightness-feature-on-1567886994

Also, Try to download the Video and Chipset drivers for the unit from the support page.

Make sure to reboot after an update on the unit.

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.

Re: screen brightness changing on its own

Greetings, Anon!

I had the same problem and fixed it by taking these steps (note, however, that my computer is not in english, so the bold names are translated and may differ from the names you'll see. Feel free to correct any inaccuracy) :

  • Right-click on the desktop and select "Intel graphics settings".
  • On the newly openned window, click on "Power".
  • Then, select "Battery powered" on the menu to the left, and set "Technology of reduction of current consumed by the screens" to "Off".

I hope it will serve you well.

P.S. : My PC is a T470 running Windows 10.

Re: screen brightness changing on its own

I am having the same issue on my idea pad 330. I tried one of the solutions mentioned here but when I right click on my desktop I have no intel graphics option to click on, only one for Nvidia but that has no power options. Please help with a possible solution?

Re: screen brightness changing on its own

This seemed like it would work but when I right click on my desktop there is no option to click intel graphics, only Nvidia. But when I do click on Nvidia it doesn't give me any power options like you described. Any suggestions?

Re: screen brightness changing on its own

Have you tried this

Also if that doesn't work try this: Control panel > Hardware and sound > Power Options > Edit Plan Settings > "Change advanced power settings" > Intel Graphics Settings > On battery: Maximum performance || Plugged in: Maximum performance.
