Since this is an older unit, i will assume you have had it for some time, One of the reasons for slowdown, is over time installing, uninstalling, applications running in the background, etc.

So here is a list of things you could look into:

  1. Restart your PC. While this may seem an obvious step, many users keep their machines running for weeks at a time. ...
  2. Update, Update, Update. ...
  3. Check startup apps. ...
  4. Run Disk Cleanup. ...
  5. Remove unused software. ...
  6. Disable special effects. ...
  7. Disable transparency effects. ...
  8. Upgrade your RAM.

Another thing you could do is to make a backup of your files, then reset your laptop back to factory settings:

Go to pcsupport.lenovo.com search with your serial number, find the user manual under the tab knowledgebase.

Find the location of the Novo button.

As soon as the laptop has been restarted, and your logged back in, do the following:

  1. Right click the Start button and select Control Panel.
  2. Make your way to System and Security.
  3. Click System.
  4. Click Advanced system settings from the left sidebar.
  5. Select the Hardware tab.
  6. Press the Device Installation Settings button.
  7. Choose No, and then press the Save Changes button.

Then use the pcsupport.lenovo.com web based automated driver update, then update windows, and your unit should be faster.
