Re: yoga 13 wifi issues [possible fix]

Here is a solution that so far has worked to fix random wifi connection interruptions / drops.
1. Bring up the device manager by searching "device manager" from the charms menu under settings.
2. Click on network adapters in the device manager.
3. Right click on "Realtek RTL8723A wireless ..." under network adapters. Click on properties.
4. In the properties box click on the advanced pane.
5. Inside the advanced pane set the following values to these parameters:
selective suspend: disabled (I think this is the only change necessary but I did the other 2 parameter changes as well, you can experiment with different choices)
selective suspend timeout: 60
WiFi config: WiFi
Click OK to save settings.

Re: yoga 13 wifi issues [possible fix]

Here is a post I made on the other thread, just to document my issue on this thread.

‎12-10-201202:35 PM

So I installed inSSIDer on both my SONY Vaio laptop and my Yoga.  With both computers on my desk right next to the wireless router, the signal strength runs about -34 on the Sony and -58 on the Yoga. No matter how close I put the Yoga to the router the signal is no better than -45, although the Sony can do -15. My basement access point is at -61 on the Sony and -71 on the Yoga, two floors down.

As I walk out of the room with the router the Sony drops to -46, and the Yoga at -70, and there is still line of sight.

Maybe someone has more knowledge than I do to controvert these numbers, but this seems to be pretty strong evidence that something is wrong with the Yoga.

Can someone from Lenovo reply and fill us in as to whether this is being investigated?

Hi,

I am having the exact same problem. I dont seem to have signal strenght or signal loss problems but the wifi is being disabled and there is no way of reenabling it. Did you manage to solve this particular issue of yours?

Thanks,

Jim

This doesn't sound like the same issue everyone else is having, but I'm having a problem where the wi-fi works fine when using the desktop but I can't get a cconnection at all in any metro apps.

edit: Nevermind, it was an unrelated issue.

It feels like Lenovo forgot about us.

OK. While I still have the weak signal strengh issue, I did resolve the dropped signals...at least for my unit. All I did was turn off the option to automatically connect to my network. So, everytime I start up the Yoga I have manually go in and select the network and connect, but it then stays connected until I close the lid or shut down. Not a long term solution (HELP LENOVO!!!), but workable in the short time.

Hey folks, I've been trying some things with Lenovo back and forth. I'm going to ship them my unit tomorrow for a look and I can post the results here after I hear back.

I can tell you that I've seen issues with wireless N routers with single antennas (like the Aerohive BR100) and even those with 2 (like the Netgear WNDR3700).

I also see severe issues when using wireless N set to 20Mhz on the router. The signal severely degrades more quickly as you get further from the router. If you use 40Mhz on the router, you might have better luck.

I'll keep you guys posted!
