Re: yoga 13 wifi issues

Two questions for those still having problems:

(1) Does the solution identified in another thread (changing the Windows Power Management settings) not work?

(2) Would the use of a USB wireless network adapter solve the issue?

gmarcar,

None of the proposed solutions in any of the threads redarding the Lenovo Yoga 13's poor wifi have worked.

An external USB card does provide fantastic wifi when connected- but this is not practical for someone on the move as it would be just dangling there asking to be damaged.

Re: yoga 13 wifi issues

Just wanted to add my two cents.  I have been following this post for a couple months and it was very discouraging to me to purchase a Yoga.  I recently took the risk and ordered one from a local vendor that I knew I could return to if I had the issues discussed.  I was pleasantly surprised that I have not had any wifi issues.  It is not the strongest of my devices for picking up signal but still gets almost full bars throughout my home which is about 2000 sq. feet with the wifi router located in one corner of the house and behind several walls.  My router is a dual band DSL wifi router Netgear.  I am glad these posts did not prevent me from the purchase because I have to admit it is the best laptop purchase I have made out of the 5 previous.  the Yoga is solid so far and performs great as advertised, granted it has only been one week.  The model I have is the I7 gray 8gb ram 256 SSD.  Hope this helps other weary people considering a purchase.

Gosh, I wish I was so lucky.  My problem is actually getting it to connect.  Once it connects its good, but it can take me up to an hour or so to connect....  It's gonna break my heart, but I think I may be returning this thing.

My Yoga 13 is having no trouble at all connecting, except when in power saving mode. In power saving mode it connects a little slow and speeds are very slow, and it disconnects very often.
I would suggest to everyone to try changing the power profile to 'High Performance' for a while and see if that improves their WiFi.
If it doesn't help, your antenna inside is likely not connected tightly or working right for some reason.
If it does help, then go to the power profile you want to use, go to advanced settings, and look at the WiFi settings. The maximum power saving setting gives terrible performance, but the others are better.

Mine's not bad outside the no reconnect after sleep mode.  Interestingly, this is also the problem the Surface RT had.  One short term fix for that might be to disable sleep mode period (That's how I solved it for the Surface RT).  If you want sleep mode, you can still get it by selecting it.  Not a great workaround, but,...  better then nothing....maybe

Re: yoga 13 wifi issues

I returned my Lenovo Yoga 13 last night.

It is pathetic how a company can sell us a laptop for over $1,000 that does not even work with Wireless correctly. Perhaps it is Windows fault due to windows 8, but from my research it seems like an issue with the wireless card within the laptop not being compatible with windows 8.

I cannot leave my house without having connection issues. Lenovo has no answers, Microsoft has no answers, no one has an answer.

I think people who do not return this item are just fueling the fire. Why give us an answer if they are still making money.  RETURN RETURN RETURN.

The product itself is great... but I need internet access to do work, communication, and use this machine.

Pathetic.
