Re: yoga 13 wifi issues

As the initial poster I wanted to say that after updating the wifi driver my yoga wifi issues appear to have been solved.  I am no longer experiencing issues with the wifi in any of the yoga's positions regardless of hand position or proximity to my router.  I am not very knowledgable with IT issues and there may be multiple different problems with the wifi driver (which i'm sure many of you already updated) but thought I would share.

Awesome!  Ok...might make a  move on this product.  Just curious, when did the update come out?  Did it auctomaticly update?  And was it meant to be a direct fix action for all of the wifi complaints?  I will personally hold you responsible if the wifi is bad after if I buy this thing.  lol    Thanks for the post and help

Could you post the link, version, and date of the driver you found that fixed this problem?

Thanks in advance.

I just updated the wireless drivers from Lenovo, installed Windows updates, and I also added an additional 128gb SSD and 8gb of RAM. wireless ping lan drop.PNG

I am now having major wireless problems... The first three weeks I had no problems at all with wifi. My range is fine, unlike others.

My recent wifi problem is the wireless becomes disabled (red X over the wifi symbol). I can reboot or right-click and "troubleshoot" to fix, and it fixes it every time. I've updated the drivers from Lenovo to the current version http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/...s/0twb28ww.exe but no effect.

Here's a screenshot of the pingloss to my router. I am literally 2 feet from the router. A second Asus laptop is having no trouble along with two phones. I know it's not the router.

Nice screenshot, this was almost exactly what I was seeing. The only thing that helped was switching from Netgear to Linksys. It's still not fixed, but it seems to be working better now. Which wireless router do you have?

agrajag42, my wife's HP is Windows 7.  Where is the link to the latest driver out there?  Is it one specific to the Yoga or somewhere else?  Anybody know?

Thanks agrajag42, I do have a Netgear N router.

I just did a System Restore to 11/27 at 6am... before the problems started for me. It appears to be fixed now.

This is before updating to the most recent drivers on Lenovo's site. Also, there were a few  Windows Updates that installed... maybe part of the issue? Updates for Synaptics touchpad, Intel graphics, and two Win8 updates.

One thing's for sure, what ever is going on is software related, not hardware. At least for me.

I'm not sure if there's a newer update - I'm on 9/24/2012 version 1021.2.904.2012. I reran the latest from the Lenovo support page. I've been unsuccessful finding an updated driver yet anywhere else.

I PM'd the admin on this thread and got a call today. I walked through my scenario, house layout (two walls for a pantry and then a wide open 20 feet from the router) and encryption (WPA2 Personal, hidden SSID, no MAC filter).
I also disabled the Bluetooth and BTDevManager service, but still no deal.

I found switching from 300Mbps to 150Mbps like someone recommended seemed to help.

Here is the link I used for the latest wifi driver, got it from lenovo's driver matrix.  the release date is 10/23/12.  After downloading and a side by side comparison with my macbook there is no noticable difference in speed despite the yoga not always displaying all 5 bars of wifi connectivity
