Re: yoga 13 wifi issues

Diecast17,

I ran the scan slc command you suggested.  The message returned was, "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.  Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log."

I reviewed the CBS.Log file and extract the "cannot repair" statements and include below.

This is beyond my technical skills at this point, but why are there so many references to AMD64?  Yoga's have Intel processers.

What I found online suggested that if slc could not fix the issue that I should run a Windows Refresh.

Once I have successfully backed up my files as a precaution, I intend to run the Windows Refresh.

Any other thoughts?

Re: yoga 13 wifi issues

2013-05-01, 3:06 AM

Could my issue have anything to do with a disabled Cisco Systems VPN Adapter?  I ran the Resource and Performance Monitor and it identified the Cisco adapter as being disabled.

I installed Cisco VPN software last week, although I never successfully connected using it.  I never got around to trouble shooting it further and did not think about it until I saw this notice.

The Cisco Adaptor responded when I accessed it in Device Manager and Enabled it.

Although, I have not rebooted to see what happens since it is a pain to get back online.

Your pc looks like its a mess. I doubt you can fix it manually. Just windows refresh and start over I think.

That's not a very good prognosis.

However, since my prior posts, I played with some things and was able to successfully install a stable version of the 01/18/2013 driver. (What I lack in know-how, I make up for in persistence).

I found about a dozen "Hidden Devices" in Device Manager (View/ Show Hidden Devices), including, but not limited to, the Realtek Network Adaptors.  I cleaned these up and then reinstalled the Realtek 01/18/2013 driver.

I was able to successfully reboot without any disabled hardware AND I was able to modify the Advanced Settings of the 01/18/2013 driver.  These were my initial symptoms (beyond the standard Yoga wifi issues).

I also tested my network connections and got decent speeds (>20Mbps).  I am not in my typical spot for the most accurate comparison, but I am not on top of the router either.

I may very well still refresh Windows.

Can you elaborate what you see beyond the number of errors that indicates to a trained eye that m ypc "looks like mess"?

will re-run the slc scan tomorrow to compare the results,

."Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log."

If you have such fundamental issues with your setup, patching drivers is not going to fix anything. Some system processes or boot sequence would have been disrupted which led to some type of minor corruption. You might as well cut your losses and re lay the foundation.

diecast

thanks for the updated drivers.  Got them off notebook review.  So far so good.

My results using Buffalo WZR-HP-AG300H with DD-WRT v24-sp2 std - build 20675:

  - first received from Lenovo, maybe 1Mb/s, disconnects intermittently.

  - tried the 12/12 driver better speed, more disconnects (every 2 to 3 minutes)

  - rolled back via Windows restore - speeds better now, up to ~60Mb/s, less frequent disconnects but more than originally (every 10 to 15 minutes)

 - drivers as provided by diecast - great speeds, yoga 13 actually uses 40Mhz and connects at 150 Mb/s.  Copy file from my NAS (connected to network with 2x1Gb/s links using LACP) downloading at 75Mb/s avg. and I saw 92Mb/s peaks.  Waiting to see if disconnects continue.  None so far after a couple hours

I'm thinking about purchasing one. Has this issue been rectified or should it still be a concern?

thank you!

Re: yoga 13 wifi issues

I'm late to this thread, but I'm also suffering intermittent wifi issues - works fine when close to router (same room) giving 70+mbps, but as soon as I go to another room a couple of rooms away it drops to 14Mbps

I'm using Netgear DGND3700v2 set to up to 145Mbps.

I've asked NINE for the beta driver update, and will post results when I get it.

I also just noticed on my new Yoga that it looks like half the vent cover is missing.

Is this normal?
