I recommend a new router. I just got a Netgear R6300 and it works great with the Yoga.

Re: yoga 13 wifi issues

hi,

i did change power settings,

i have an Airport Extreme, everything else i own works great, i have 2 ipads, 4 smart phones, wii, ps4 and so on that uses the wifi no problem, of course i have turned everything off, change channel, i hope done everything i can other than replace the router...

just to recap the probem, i start a ping to my rourter, sat in the same room as the Airport everything is fine, walk out of the room with the router in site no problem, go down 6 steps into the front room and pings start to drop or go very high.. walk to the sofa which is no more than 5meters away and though 1 plaster wall with 4 bar signal the pings just stop and i get general error or 800ms pings or dropped pings...

it seems to be a known problem, and with out any clear fixes that i can see.. if i have missed anything (other than replacement router) please feel free to let me know.

thanks

My access point is a Ubiquiti UniFi, which uses an Atheros chipset. I'm having the symptom that the connection drops entirely at a distance where even an iPhone has a strong signal.

Looks like people who have Broadcom routers are having less trouble, but several of the people posting with similar problems are naming Atheros-based access points. Is this a clue?

Re: yoga 13 wifi issues

hi,

so some progress, i did a fresh install on my yoga ready for shipping back to Lenovo.. so then i logged in as a general blank account, so then i thought let me make some more router changes, so after running wifi analyzer i saw my router was on channel 1 and the same ping drop outs happened, so then i moved my router to channel 7, i did the same set of ping test and no drop outs.. so that felt better.. so then i did speed test, in the room where my router is i get an average 40mb download and 10mb upload (wifi card limit)... move down stairs into the front room... pings still working and no drop outs, so then i moved on to the speed test, the speed dropped down to 20mb.. upload stated same at 10mb... i did these test a few times... in both location and the averages stayed almost the same... the wifi signal was only a bar less in the front room...

so for me i have a yoga i can use, but with a little less speed then i would like...

not sure if this will help anyone.. but it would seemed to have helped me,

i dont think the rebuild would have changed anything other than remove the beta wifi driver...

i'm guessing someone can work out the frequency difference and suggest that the yoga only likes a certain range, or channel...

i might try moving the channel up or down on my router to see if the speed increases...but for me know i just want to get on and use my yoga...

Hi,

so did some more testing.. and it seems if i stick in the middle channels above 4 and less than 10 it works fine, less speed out of the router room... but its working and not dropping pings...

so channel 7 works for me the best...

it would be nice to know if anyone else has any luck moving channels around...

Re: yoga 13 wifi issues

I bought my Yoga 13 on May 10th. I was unable to participate in video conferences and wifi was otherwise very bad. I thought it might be my home Verizon connection, but no one else was having problems. I ran a diagnostic with winmtr and noticed packet loss right to my home wifi router. So problem was mine.

I did get around it. I purchased a usb wifi dongle from amazon. About $17.

I deactivated the onboard wifi. No problems acessing with the usb wifi adapter.

Not great. I am regularly checking Lenovo for a wifi driver update. In another thread there is a Lenovo engineer that distributed a beta driver. I private messaged him but not response on that.

Anyway. Temporary solution in place.

Hi

I have been reading this thread for a while and looking for an answer for the WIFI problem, My routher was the Linksys E2500 which sucks at 2.4ghz, but great on 5ghz,

I just bought a Cisco EA4500 from Best buy, and it works great, on both 2.4ghz, 5ghz, my speed was used to 0.7 mbps and now I am getting 21 mpbs, I think just get a good router for 2.4 ghz and you will be fine.
