Re: yoga 13 wifi issues

Does anyone on this thread have an Ideapad they can restore again (one that's not too new maybe)? Reason being, I was curious if maybe KB2740443 might be the cause of our headaches.

If you read this thread - http://forums.mydigitallife.info/archive/index.php/t-35675.html, it seems that folks are pointing to KB2740443 as a networking update (specifically for wireless issues). What I would propose to a brave soul is to refresh your system, update the other Windows Updates, but not this one and check your wireless. If it seems OK, load up this one hotfix and see what happens.

This update is marked as a permanent update, so I can't figure a way to uninstall it. I checked Microsoft's support page and our enterprise's Microsoft Premier support page and the no details exist for this hotfix.

One last note: Do this at your own risk!

The wireless adaptor and/or driver in this thing is an absolute joke. i can in no way depend on it so i am forced to carry around a linksys adapter with me and this day and age thats an absolutely horrible way to design a laptop.

Its not even just an issue of signal strength, its that it has issues resolving proxies and obtaining IP addresses from the router, any router ive tested it at work home and school and its the same story no matter where i go.

Ive also noticed if i plug my external usb adapter in which requied me disabling the internal one, just trying to disable the wifi adapter completely screws up the computer. The device manager doesnt respond nor does the wifi card get disabled and the only way to fix this is to reboot the computer. and then it takes about 30 times as long to reboot when this has occured.

This is pitiful and absolutly needs to be fixed asap

Add me to the list - wifi issues pretty regularly.   Aside from the poor signal strenth, the connection drops on a regular basis.  Extremely annoying.

Has Lenovo bothered to answer any of these complaints on any other forum?  If this gets fixed, it is the perfect machine.

It worries me that the Lenovo rep that was in this section is no longer posting about the WiFi issues.

Lenovo Rep, at least let us know you are working on it.  Keep the loyal customers and those who want to be happy.  We are still willing to help on our end with tests, etc.

My first Yoga (returned for an unrelated problem) definitely had worse performance than my X220. Strangely, it couldn't even see my AC signal, though the much older X220 could. Still, it's a new standard, so I cut them some slack.
I was just testing a weak wifi signal in my house, and found that where my iPad and X220 could get 2-3 bars, the Yoga couldn't even connect. I'm baffled why a modern laptop that's generally physically larger than the other devices would have such a much worse reception.
I think marking this thread fixed has probably taken it off of the Lenovo rep's radar. I'm going to start a new thread and hope that they notice.
