You really did not need to work so hard.   All you needed was the correct drivers.  See this thread.

Hey people! I have really suffered so much with my Lenovo Yoga 13 because of the wi-fi issues. I have finally found a solution. I am not really the type of person who posts in forums and stuff, but I thought if I could help people, why not? Basically I had Windows 8.1. What I did was to reinstall Windows from scratch (something that took downgraded my PC to Windows 8). I did not mess with the drivers automatically set after the re-installation: PROBLEM SOLVED!!! Internet is kind of slow but stable. My nerves have calmed and my girlfriend says I am like a new man! For the record the driver version is: 1021.6.118.2013. Good luck everyone!

FWIW that driver version has been mentioned numerous times in this thread. All that you needed to do was change your driver to that version instead of reinstalling windows.

There is a new driver version on the Realtek page available. Version 1026.5.1118.2013

Get it here (scroll to RTL8188CUS and download win 8.1 driver, it's the same for the RTL8723au): http://www.realtek.com.tw/Downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=21&PFid=48&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false&Downloads=true

This driver seems to be working better for me, it no longer crashes when I close and reopen the lid.  Thanks!

I have tried all drivers, nothing helps. Speed is 10 Mbit initially, but within a couple of minutes it drops to <1Mbps. As suggested in another topic I bought a Linksys AE6000 USB Wifi stick, which surprisingly has exactly the same problem!

There's no way I can get a decent WiFi speed on my Yoga 13. I also have a Yoga Pro 2, if I use the Linksys AE6000 on that one it will get >50 Mbit.

I have tried so many things to get decent WiFi on the Yoga 13, I don't see any options left, what should I do?

Have you tried smashing your Yoga with a geologist's rock hammer?  That fixed my problems with Lenovo, once and for all.

I generally smash things only if they cost less then $1000 :-)

But seriously, I have had nothing but trouble with this laptop. Harddisk partitions, Fan noise, WiFi... Several times Lenovo gave some hope by promising updates, some of them worked, and some didn't. I just didn't want to believe they wouldn't solve the problems.

They are hard to get in touch with too, and if you do reach them, they only offer useless discussion.

I feel bad about this, I wasted a fair amount of money on a product that could have been perfect. If anybody at Lenovo still reads this thread, please reach out to me, I'm willing to PAY for a solution as long as it's reasonable.

You already did PAY for a properly working system though.  When you bought it.

Seems to me they decided to get really cheap with the network card on a premium system.  Shame on them.  Mine works like crap when in certain parts of my house.  WiFi claims full signal strength, but I get 40ms latency to a local server.  When the latency goes up, EVERYTHING slows down.  So I think part of my problem is with Win8.1

I've had a lot of luck with the driver from the RealTek website that was posted. Nor blazing speeds, but at least 20mbps, and stable. i can switch networks without the card  crashing, and connecting to networks is much faster.

Re: yoga 13 wifi issues

I recently solved a speed problem on my Yoga 13. As with many reports, I had seriously decreased internet speed when lid is down. I bought a wireless access point and installed it in the remote basement room that I normally use for the Yoga.  At the other end of the house I have a Netgear 4.5 router.   In the basement room I added the Netgear AC750 (it can be used either as a Range Extender or an Access Point--do the latter). So now, compare: my normal WIRED access at the router and on other machines is about 55 mbps (Comcast Blast). After installing the AC750, my Yoga's wireless access, which connects to the 745 instead of router, is now 50 mbps--whether lid is up or down!  What's really cool is that the AC745 simply plugs into the wall, so it can be moved AT ANY TIME if need be--out on the porch, wherever--and back to the remote basement room. Because I like the Yoga A LOT, and I purchased it half-price (refurbished) the extra $90 for the Access Point was well worth it. The mobile Access Point also comes in handy for family who visit and watch movies on their stinking tablets :--)

My problem is with Yoga 2 Pro and we are on our 2nd one, both broke on the 1st day.  Is this the right forum to see if we are actually using it correctly?
