Re: yoga 2 pro cpu and Bottom temperature 89 °C ++

To help solve your problem I recommend the following:
1. Uninstall all of the monitor/fan software you previously installed. I have had cases with hwmonitor  caused issues with my Y2P. You will have to reboot when after uninstalling it due to drivers. Core Temp 1.0 RC6 does NOT work on the Y2P, I am suprised you had any results from it. RC7 DOES work but it isn't widely available. If you found a version that installed a browser hijack then it didn't come from the original source, you should use an offline bootup scanner to remove that because you may have other issues. In fact if you can do a factory reset /one key recovery that may even be better than trying to uninstall each piece of software. Out of the box without ANY driver updates you should not have heat issues at idle.
2. Uninstall the McAfee software as cbautis2 recommended.
3. Once you are clean and running idle, just right click on the task bar and run the built-in task manager. See what tasks (if any) are consuming CPU resources. It should be running nor more than 1-2% and your fans should be fairly silent. If if have tasks running more than then plesae post a screenshot. If it is still getting very hot at Idle then you either have a fan issue or the heatsinks aren't mounted correctly at the factory.

I was unaware any software could read fan speed on the Y2P. I will look for the RC7 software though.

You have two fans in the Y2P. They output the heat on each side of the vents under the laptop. With that much heat being generated it would be fairly obvious to determine if they are exhausting heat.

have a look at fan speed, you can set profiles so the fan kicks in at a lower temp
Thx dave

The Host Process task could be a number of things, most likely launched by your task scheduler. Also, I see you have two different anti-virus products running (McAfee and Malwarebytes. This is never a good thing. Disable at least one of those.

To see more details on the Host Process task, in your Task Manager click on the Details tab. Then right click over the headers/labels for the columns (e.g. where it says Description). You should have an option to Select Columns. Choose the Command Line option and then take a screen dump of the Task Host process showing he command line that launched it. That will help identify what command line is running.

I see very similar results, my yoga 2 pro is idling around 55-60C and just some surfing easily takes the core temp above 90, fans kick in ok. Toms hardware review says they were unable to get the core temp above 50C so I think theres a batch with heatsink problems. I also have random shutdowns on the machine I guess this is the thermal cutout.
