yoga 710 random power off on battery and not charging stuck at 50%

after I installed the latest firmware update (2XCN38WW) for my Yoga 710-14ikb, the battery indicator is stuck at 50% regardless if on battery or plugged in. It worked just fine a week ago with more than 7h of battery life.

Now, When the PC is on battery it simply turns off randomly after a few minutes, but works normally when plugged in.

When connected to AC the power LED is off, but the PC does make the beep sound when connecting or disconecting the charger.

I used the diagnostics tool and the quick test indicates the battery is good. I cannot perform the discharge test because the PC turns of randomply and the charge test does nothing as the battery level is stuck at 50%.

I tried reflashing the bios with 3 different images but every time I get the battery not detected message in the flash screen.

The pc is stuck at 50% battery and turns off randomply when not connected to AC. What should I do?

Re: yoga 710 random power off on battery and not charging stuck at 50%

Hi Breznik,

Greetings.

Would you still have the old BIOS version?

Before deciding on doing a BIOS flashback to the previous version, you can try to delete the battery driver in device manager. ON the device manager, right click on battery then highlight Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery driver, then click Uninstall device.

Re start the machine and run system file checker to verify the integrity of Windows system files. Apply any Windows update one update at a time starting with the oldest and restart as needed.

Open Lenovo Vantage to have the drivers optimized and keep using the machine until battery led will show blinking red. Turn off and have it connected to the charger. Have it plugged for 2-3 hours without powering the machine on. Restart as soon as battery led shows solid white.

Update us how it goes.

Regards
