I've plugged recently plugged my laptop charger into the laptop the icon read 30% power and stated that the computer was plugged in and not charging. I disconnected the power promptly but the icon still showed that that it was plugged in and not charging. The charging light was also shown to be on but the charger was not plugged in. I restared my computer to try and fix the glitch but there was no change. I also tried turning it off and plugging it in, there was a spark sound and burnt smell coming out of the charger and the charging port. I have no idea what to do. please help!

Welcome to the Community Forums.
In any instance that there would be any burnt smell specially related to a suspected power issue, best not to do any attempts of powering the machine unless it would be checked first by a certified tech.
I would suggest that you call in technical support to report the burnt smell and get their recommendation.
Hope this helps answer your query.
