yoga c940 crashes frequently

Hello, I've had issues recently with my yoga c940 crashing while in use. 

 

There are two versions of this crash. 

In one the sound freezes/gets stuck for a few seconds then I get a blue screen that says an unexpected error occurred and then the computer restarts with a black re-booting screen. All open files and internet tabs are lost. (this has happened while in zoom and when browsing the internet)

 

In the other version (this has only happened while in the middle of zoom meetings) the screen switches to a version of the web browser with like six copies of the screen and does a fade to gray and then dark grey. The meeting continues, I can hear the meeting and the other users say my video freezes. I cannot do anything, the computer is stuck on this dark gray, almost black screen. I hit the power button and hold if for a few seconds and can then restart the computer and the windows are still up and I am still on my zoom call.

 

Both issues are very concerning and inconvenient. Has this happened to anyone else? any solutions?

I've done software checks and it seems like zoom and my operating system are both up-to-date.

My C940 does not completely crash but becomes unusable when using zoom for a while and escpecially when sharing a document. It starts heating up and begins to stutter, after a few minutes the system almost grinds to a halt. It's so annoying that my customers now have to host the zoom session instead of me. At the start i was not sure if this is a zoom issue of a Lenovo issue, but no one else using zoom seems to be affected by this problem do i guess it's a lenovo thing?

 

I've applied this fix https://www.winhelponline.com/blog/webcam-anniversary-update-windows-10-yuys-standard/

 

It dropped my cpu usage with at least 20% and i can work now with zoom without the stuttering.

hi 

try running sfc /scannow from a administrator cmd prompt. That will test if files are corrupt and repair them if possible. You nay have to run this from safe mode if repair from normal mode is not possible

have you ever undervolted? That used to crash my C940 if I went -60 or under

I also am having these issues.  Have had the C940 for about a month and have had 11 crashes.

Similar issue with my C930. It has been repaired 4 times in the last 5 months for various issues, and has been a disaster of a device overall.

Run the SFC command as requested and run the windows memory diagnostic tool to scan your memory. After that, you can try driver verifier to see if it's a software issue (google search, good walkthroughs on the Windows website). You can also try a refreshed install. I have done all of these steps, and more, and still have a basically worthless device. Good luck.

I can't believe the C940 hasn't been totally recalled and everyone refunded. It's a disaster of a laptop.

 

Lenovo just keep on releasing new devices literally every day but never fix their previous ones.
