How can I use the L570 fingerprint reader with Ubuntu linux?

Lenovo Thinkpad L570 is certified to work with Ubuntu. But Ubuntu 18.04 (and 17.10 for that matter) doesn't seem to detect the fingerprint reader (or scanner or sensor) on Lenovo Thinkpad L570.

I found this:

Configuring Fingerprint reader in Linux -- Thinkpad General

But it's about an UPEK fingerprint reader, and according to - https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/DS120816 - L570 has a fingerprint reader called Synaptics Raptor.

So how can I use that as a general substitute for typing passwords in Ubuntu linux?

Re: How can I use the L570 fingerprint reader with Ubuntu linux?

Solution:

Section "1. FPrint" on “Fingerprint readers integration” team - https://launchpad.net/~fingerprint .

First:

To find out the ID of your fingerprint reader, run the “lsusb” command in Terminal and look into the sixth column of the output.
