With Ubuntu 10.04
install alsa driver 1.0.23.
Ubuntu 10.10 has 1.0.23 alsa driver.
Add to end of file /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf the folow line:
options snd-hda-intel model=thinkpad
To me works in my two lenovo G460, one with ubuntu 10.04, and other with 10.10.
I hope had helped.
sorry! my english is very poor!

i'm new to ubuntu.so i need to ask more questions. when i wrote the codes in terminal, it gave me "permission denied" error.
what should i do? and rest of the codes, should i enter it right away with or without space?
sou completamente iniciante no Ubuntu, por isso peço mais detalhes.
escrevi no terminal:
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
e deu: permission denied. como devo proceder?
e o resto, deve ser adicionado logo em seguida? com ou sem espaço?
grato
Eli
