Lenovo Yoga with Linux

Hi, guys,

I am looking for a Lenovo Yoga model that works well with Linux (Ubuntu 18.04, Linux Mint 19.0 or Peppermint 9).

I've been thinking about Yoga 720 12", Yoga 920 or 930, and X1 (6 gen) but I am open to the other 2-in-1 solutions as well.

I would appreciate if Lenovo users who use Linux share their experiences and recommendations.

Fingerprint scanner functionality is not important to me.

Please help me to select the best hardware to run Peppermint 9.

Thank you,

XVCG

Re: Lenovo Yoga with Linux

I am running Fedora 29 on my Yoga 920. It works fine with only a few minor modifications. Many Yogas need a patch in the ideapad_laptop kernel module. Current kernels tend to get this patch soon after the hardware is released, but if you are running an old kernel you have to either blacklist the module (which makes some of the function keys not work right) or patch it yourself. Some of the function keys will not work right. There are patches for some of these, but not for all.
