If that just a matter of simple (wink!) BIOS update - we NEED THIS - Lenovo!
I'd love to use my X1 with built-in LTE, but since I can not stand Windows - LTE and finger scanner are dead parts from the beginning. Shame, my other machine (Dell XPS 13) runs 100% hardware under Linux with silky smoothness.

@rushforth No, everything is in the twitter thread. This module concerns a couple of devices, more than 10 if I remember well. Linux users are indeed a minuscule minority compared to Windows users. Still writing and testing and releasing such an updated BIOS, shouldn't be such a big cost for Lenovo. Or is it?

About the fingerprint, there is a project for reverse engineering in under Linux: https://github.com/nmikhailov/Validity90, some readers now work, but others don't.
About the L850-GL - same issue here..

The last BIOS update for X1C6 was released on November 2018 (see https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/it/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-x-series-laptops/thinkpad-...) and it did not include a fix for the WWAN module.
