RBS is right. You will have to go to the forum for your Linux distro of choice and find the answer there. Surely they know a workaround for this. It will probably involve something like disabling acpi during the install but that is just a guess.

Hi All, I recently bought a lenevo 3000 Y 510 775843Q LAPTOP And I am trying to install fedora core7 using a DVD. In one of the options it shows that the images u want to install are stored on.. and gives a list like Local CDROM, FTP etc. When I choose Local CDROM it gives driver missing and displays a list of drivers and from that list I tried some but nothing happened. Is there any solution available to this problem, it will be really helpful to me
I have Lenovo 3000y 500 series but i have tried installing Suse 10.3 , Ubuntu 7.4, RHEL5 ,fedora 8, fedora 7 and fodora 6 but no use. i have posted this problem in most of the linux forums but no use.
But there is one way in my laptop if you connect your laptop to the AC power and connect your usb mouse it's booting is fine. But if either one of this is missing it will drop you in login page where your mouse and keyboard won't work.
hi i have seen the configuration of y500 series and it seems you will be able to instal only the most recent version of linux which supports and has drivers for nvidia and intel gma 950 try using ubuntu 7.10 or suse 10.3
