My unsuccessful attempt to contact support through official Lenovo web pages (even phone number for Croatia is missing) brought me to this forum, so hi all
I've recently purchased a new Lenovo Y700-17ISK notebook (Intel Core i7-6700HQ/RAM 16GB/SSD 512GB/Nvidia GTX960M 4GB/Bios version CDCN30WW) without an operating system, in which I'm currently using Ubuntu 16.04 with some minor issues:
- Boot Error: Failure writing sector 0x21c8800 to 'hd0'
- Notebook subwoofer doesn't work
- Direct firmware load for iwlwifi failed
- mmc0: Unknown controller version
- ACPI Errors
- Bluetooth issues
- Can't claim BAR 6: no compatible bridge window
I have been advised today by the 'Ubuntu team' to inform the 'Lenovo support' about the following problem:
- Firmware Bug: No valid trip found
I would be very grateful for any help, thanks in advance

Looking at the 'driver downloads' page, it seems that the new BIOS update is released today:
BIOS Update for Windows 10 (64-bit) - ideapad Y700-15ISK, Y700 Touch-15ISK, Y700-17ISK
But checking the version of the new BIOS file, here's what it says: CDCN30WW 2016/01/31???

Don't expect all peripherals to work. Lenovo recommends Windows.
I run Linux on my 2 laptop, Asus and Yoga 500 and found that Linux is killing my battery
and is toasting my hardware.

World is really small, besides Lenovo Y700-17ISK I have Ubuntu 16.04 installed also in Asus N750JV and X750JN notebooks.
In Asus notebooks I can turn off Bluetooth, memory card reader and other things simply by using BIOS settings.
I purchased Asus notebooks with Windows pre-installed, and I can update BIOS in 2 minutes without any need for Windows. Despite the fact that I bought Lenovo notebook empty without Windows, I can't update BIOS without Windows, which means that I am obligated to spend not only extra money, but a lot of time too every time there's a new BIOS version.
That said, I don't think that my Lenovo notebook is - all in all - a bad product, but I'm convinced that it can become much better.

I wiped my SSD. Sad but true, then I first installed licensed version of Windows 10 - only because of BIOS updating. After that I installed Ubuntu 16.04 alongside with licensed version of Windows 10.
Now here's the question: what does it mean that already 10-15 days it is impossible to find any BIOS file on 'Y700-17ISK Laptop - Lenovo Support' web page? Is something terribly wrong with the 'CDCN30WW' and 'CDCN35WW' BIOS version? Is it a sign that the new BIOS version will be released soon?

There's finally a new BIOS update file available today at the 'driver downloads' page:
BIOS Update for Windows 7 (64-bit), Windows 10 (64-bit) - Notebook
Released 7/18/2016, Version CDCN35WW
When - hoping to solve problems running Ubuntu on Lenovo Y700 - I try to install this latest BIOS update file, I get the following error message: "the version of ROM file is the same as that of BIOS" !?!?????
