Unable to change brightness on Ubuntu 16.04

I am using Ubuntu 16.04 in dual boot settings on my Legion Y520. However, I am unable to set/change brightness of the screen and it remains 1005.

I have tried all the available solutions on the forums but to no avail.

When I enter the command

ls /sys/class/backlight

on command prompt, it doesn't output anything.

I also tried the solution given by here but that also didn't work.

Full brightness is really hurting my eyes so please help me.

Re: Unable to change brightness on Ubuntu 16.04

What you tried only works for intel cards.

I think your computer is not the case.

Try to read the following article:

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Backlight

When you enter the command

ls /sys/class/backlight/

 what is the output?

If there is no output, it means the folder is empty.

Then you cannot follow the steps in the solution you found.
