WIRELESS WORKING! - Ideapad S206 (APU E2 1800 Atheros ar9285) - Ubuntu, Fedora, Linux

Hello everyone,

Going directly to the point, to run this laptop on linux, whatever distribution you need to blacklist the ideapad-laptop module

This module, on windows is a ACPI device called VCP 2004, this one on windows is not installed to avoid having your wireless disabled. Blacklisting this module (driver, device) will make you able to enable wireless under linux, so I place below the required steps:

~$ cd /etc/modprobe.d

~$ sudo nano blacklist.conf

as the editor opens, place in the lastline the following:

blacklist ideapad-laptop

(if you are noob, after you write the "blacklist ideapad-laptop" press "ctrl-x", confirm editing with "y" and finally press enter overwritting the file)

DONE!!!!

Reboot and your Atheros ar9285 will be working flawlessly.

Thanks and Regards.

Live long linux.

Dhiego Silva.

Dear Silva,

I am a total noob at linux. I really don't understand what to do here. I open a terminal, I put these commands but nothing happens. Yes on a s206 working ubuntu 14.04.
