X201(s) battery life on Linux?

2010-05-13, 10:32 AM

Hey,

what battery life times / power consumptions do you see on your X201 using Linux?

Mine doesn't go below 10 Watts, most of the time it's 12W or more. This also results in noticable heat output and fan noise.

I've tried all power management tricks I know of (powertop's tips, usb/intel_hda/sata/younameit powermanagement features, ...).

It doesn't matter which desktop I use (XMonad/KDE/No X). I am using Gentoo Linux with latest kernels (2.6.33 / 2.6.34-rc).

On my Windows 7 installation, I've seen it go as low as about 6W.

thanks

EDIT: my specs: TP X201s, i7 620LM, 500G Hitachi, 4GB RAM
